Business cards

Why not a hand-drawn tractor with a grapple (teeth) eating dirt? Headlights are eyes, exhaust for a "nose" blowing smoke.

Brandi, I have also seen a few folded business cards some contractors have. Real nice cards and allot of room, expensive I'm sure, You could have a large photo when opened with just your contact # printed on the bottom and all the other pertinent info on the reverse sides. Just a thought.

I think #2 would be the best pic to advertise an excavating business.

I like the fifth one. When I was in business, I would have the printer make a few with a magnet. I gave those to my repeat customers, so they could place them on their refrigerator at their home;etc. They are more costly, but I have known many businesses that implement their business card selection with this additional method of advertising. Best wishes in regards to your future endeavor.

You may want to consider getting slightly over-sized cards (just a little taller than the standard size) as it makes them stick out in a pile, and makes them easier to pull out of a pile. It's sort of like "fixing" the drawing by making your entry easier / more likely to be pulled.

This practice annoys the heck out of me. The card won't fit in a standard business card holder, rolodex, binder, etc... If I have just one card, the odd size is neither here nor there, but if I have a stack of cards and one is the odd man out, it just makes me want to toss that card for messing up the stack.

Consider making the photo made into a line drawing for use on a business card A true photo on business card will be too small to be meaningful. Instead, put together a tri-fold brochure and/or website with photos to better show your work and capabilities.

I agree with this. No photo. Get a very simple website and show a few pictures on it.

My logo is a my tractor converted to a line drawing behind the company name. Any photo can be converted to a line drawing in Adobe Photoshop

Thanks everyone. Now the line drawing sounds neat. I will have to look into that. Is Adobe Photoshop a free file?
hugs, Brandi

Photoshop is definitely not free. And it has a significant learning curve. WAY (way) easier to just have whoever does your cards make your line drawing. It will take you ten hours; it will take them ten minutes.
