I had not considered the CK series.
Finish mowing is in the "to do" list, so cruise would be nice. I'll go to the site and look at the other specs.
I test rode a DK35 HST 5 years ago and it was impressive; I wonder why it was discontinued?

Well I have heard that there was not enough room on the chassis to put the extra "stuff" that will be needed for next years tier 4 standards. Now whether that is true or not I cannot swear. I image DK40's outsold DK35's anyway with the KL401 loader as standard instead of the KL351. The main reason I have a DK35 instead of a DK40 is the wife had trouble getting up on the DK40 with its extra height.. Here is the funny part about buying the Kubota L3400HST in 2010 and the DK35seHST in 2012. I paid 18500 for the Kubota, and 19300 for the Kioti.. for 800 bucks I got SSQA, telescoping lower links and stabilizers, electronic/hydraulic 4WD and PTO actuators. rear dismounted position control actuator. rubber floor mat, telescoping wheel. One rear remote standard. 270 lbs more lift capacity on the loader, more loader lift height, Larger tires to hold more ballast and better traction., 1066 lbs more chassis weight, Integral FEL control. A multiway adjustable suspension seat. and a couple more horsepower. All that for 800 bucks..Why in heck did I not look at one in the first place.. Well there werent any nearby Kioti Dealers then. The place I got mine was strictly New Holland, then.. They are still New Holland, but the front yard is full of Kioti's now for all the smaller tractors, and New Holland for all the larger Ag tractors.

Don't forget about the draft control.

Well, well, this all makes me wish I could still get a DK35.
The CK35 looks very good for my applications, BUT... why the big reduction in PTO power? I've seen 3-4hp lost by the time it gets to the PTO, but 8hp?
I realize that the net engine hp is probably around 8, but that still is a 6hp reduction at the PTO.
Will 22 PTO hp run a 5' rototiller decently? I ask because I could really use one and would consider bundling into the purchase.
While we're on the subject, I pull a 6' boxblade and a middle buster with my L2800 gear with no problem; would the CK35HST do this too, or would parasitic hp losses to the HST make a noticeable difference?

And YES... the jerky 3pt. lift is a pain when using the boxblade or rake.

When I was looking at tractors, I looked at the L3240, but ended up with a Massey Ferguson 1635. It was a lot less $ and had better lifting capability, and just looked beefier. The fully independent PTO is also real nice. So far I've been real happy with it, you might want to check one out before you sign on the line. I just think that 10,500 is a little high, 7k sounds more reasonable.

He's a good man, but when he gives a price, that's the price.
That Massey is one nice machine... just a little more than I want to spend.

Sounds like a normal trade in deal. Not great, but not bad.

I'd rather have my 3800 gear than two tractors with HST. ;)

I do mostly FEL, BH and residential mowing. I also do a fair bit of BB and rake, but I really need the maneuverability/speed of HST.

If I did more straight line or ground engagement work, there's no doubt in my mind I'd go gear. I know that my L2800 gets every bit of power to the ground.

Also, the L2800 generally runs out of traction before it runs out of HP.

Come to think of it, it has never been short of HP for BB, middle buster or FEL work.

Wow! That really sums it up right there.

I think the DK40 HST has to be the nicest tractor and best bang for the buck tractor in the upper CUT range right now. Under $20k for all that goodness... hard to argue with. Yeah, a grand L is pretty slick, but the $5k price penalty is very significant.

Does indeed sound fantastic.
Problem for me is the weight.
I often load several implements to accompany the tractor to a job: TLB, box blade, rake. Makes for quite a load on a 10k trailer, not to mention my truck.
I want to keep the tractor weight in the 3k neighborhood.
