Opps, parking brake

It is a problem with the hydro tranny as it will hold most times and only need to set the brake rarely hence no habit gets formed.

I don't know about you, but I always set the brake when I leave the seat. I just don't feel safe trusting the transmission. Especially because my shutdown procedure involves putting the tranny in neutral.

Just get in the habit of setting the brake hard each time. If properly adjusted and set hard, you wont go anywhere. One time I set the brake lightly on my RTV and didnt notice till I started climbing a hill and thinking, man something is wrong this thing has no power, then noticed the parking brake was on just a bit. I could smell it when I stopped. Now I engage it hard when I use it. Same with the other tractors, engage hard and they dont move, engine stalls.

Don't feel bad. Driving off with your park brake on is a common acurance especially with these Kubotas. This is how I stopped myself from doing it.

I've done it before and will do again. My tractor has the idiot light (red circle with a P) for the parking brake, but it lights up even when just applying the brakes so you kinda get used to seeing it.

Not great for your fuel mileage (or hourlage?), but not likely you did any real damage.

I love your mods and would like to think I'll have the time one day to copy some of them (although I won't have the skill to copy most of them), keep up the good work. Since I just had a new DK45 delivered, my first mod inspired by you will be the 'bota basher sticker for the FEL :D

I took note of what the Navy Seals do: the double tap--for them it's the 9mm, for me the brake pedal. Everytime I get back on the tractor, before throttling up, I always give the brake pedal a double tap.

Well, it makes me feel a little better seeing I'm not the only forgetful idiot around... ;)

I've been thinking about a ribbon to hang on the steering wheel or a really bright light to add. Maybe some type of arm that when you start to drive with the park brake engaged the arm would hit you in the back of the head to remind you.

Trust me you are not even close to being the only one. I'll wager most if not all of us have done it at some time. The trick is to just get in the habit of always stomping the brake and the problem goes away. Yes my new tractor has a big red light, and no it does not come on when you don't have the parking brake set and hit the brakes normally, but the light is not what I use to keep from doing this all the time, What I use is the ingrained habit formed by forcing myself at first to ALWAYS press the brake when starting or taking off. It happened so many times on my last tractor (the Kubota) that I just decided to force this habit on myself. Do this forced brake stomp thing for 2 weeks. and your problem will evaporate...poof!:)

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed seeing my idiot light mod and some of my other mods. Don't worry about the Kioti Killer sign. It had nothing to do with Kioti as such other than the fact Kioti lost the sale to Kubota (twice) and both reasons were only due to the dealer and not the machine ;) the DK45 is a fantastic machine. Congrats and Enjoy
