Thanks. Glad you enjoyed seeing my idiot light mod and some of my other mods. Don't worry about the Kioti Killer sign. It had nothing to do with Kioti as such other than the fact Kioti lost the sale to Kubota (twice) and both reasons were only due to the dealer and not the machine the DK45 is a fantastic machine. I'd seen the sign in a lot of your posts so one day I had to figure out what it meant. I figured you must have had the question before, so I did a search and eventually found the answer. When I went to replace my JD 955, I thought it was a done deal that I would buy a Kubota from the Kubota dealer that sold me my JD, but decided not to just buy the first piece of orange eye candy they waived in front of my face and do my due diligence. In the end, Kubota lost out to Kioti, so a 'bota basher sticker has the same meaning as your Kioti Killer sticker. Brand wars can go a little far sometimes on TBN, but a few little jabs done in good fun always puts a smile on my face. My tractors bumper is going to get crowded now, yesterday somebody posted an idea for a good one, "on my farm, Kiotis take down Deere" :laughing:

Anyway, I really do enjoy seeing all your mods, fabrications and fixes. Also, Newfoundland is probably the greatest place on earth, my wife and I can't wait to get back there. The beauty is unparallelled but it's the people that make it so incredible. It's been 6 years since we've been and almost every detail of our trip is still vivid in our minds. If it hadn't have been for the 3 kids we've had since our last visit, we'd have been back several times by now I'm sure.

I left the parking brake engaged just yesterday. I usually drop the bucket and don't set the brake but I was swapping grapple for bucket and forgot. I went a 100 yards or so before realizing the brake was set. I have thought about hanging a bright ribbon on the the parking brake handle that I would put on the steering wheel when I engage the brake to remind me to release the brake.

Low tech but it works as long as you use it!

In the EMS service we use to put a sign in the windshield (vehicle out of service) and in the FD we put a sign in windshield if the tank is empty.

Again works if people remember to put the signs up...in your case the ribbon

I have always kept the brakes adjusted; none of my tractors would move much with the brake on.

After years of being here on TBN, and seeing these threads, it dawned on me...

I have a red "Remove Before Flight" ribbon that I got at the CV-12 USS Hornet on my keyring for the truck, and one from USS Midway on the keyring for the car.

TBN needs to make a "Remove Before Tractoring" red tag and sell them. That, some coffee cups, hats etc...

This worked not bad for me with my previous gear tractor. The lugging as I let out the clutch was obvious. I find it less obvious with the HST, particularly in low range.

I did purchase and install a blinking single led similar to 4shorts' solution but not nearly as noticable. I found the idea for the single LED on this forum. But I never finished hooking it up as I'm sure it will not be noticable in moderately bright light (I don't have a cab).

So now what I'm considering is a beeper like the reverse beepers, hooked in series to the park brake lever switch and a switch on the HST linkage. On my Kioti DK35SE HST I notice the pedal return spring linkage moves the same direction for the forward and reverse pedals. So a switch could be added there. The circuit would be partially connected with the park brake lever and fully completed when either the forward or reverse pedal was operated.

I'm hoping I'd notice one of those annoying reverse beepers.

Now, if that doesn't work, I suppose the next step would be a high voltage coil rigged to the tractor seat.

They could sure make some money with a nice brtight flashing light that said "release brake"..., i hate it when it starts to lug ,,So now I will just set it harder so it stalls??

Great to hear you've enjoyed Newfoundland and its people. I've had many visitors here from all over the world and they pretty well had the same remarks. I guess we are still a little laid back and do enjoy seeing others from other parts of the world. If you get back look me up. I'm on the east coast about 45 minutes from the Capitol.
When it comes to product bashing I just don't do it. I ride a GoldWing but I have a lot of friends who ride Harley's. We do have fun picking on each other but it's just fun.

Two reasons I went with Kubota and both those reasons had nothing to do with the quality of the Kioti. One reason was the Kioti dealer couldn't give me a definite delivery time on the tractor I wanted at the time. I asked them if I bought a Kioti if they could deliver it to me and they replied " we'll see what we can do". That wasn't the answer I wanted to hear.

I went over to the Kubota dealer and they had the other tractor I liked but it was more expensive than the Kioti but they wanted to see me in the Kubota so they dropped the price. I asked them if they could deliver it to me and they replied " no problem at all".

I've purchased three Kubotas from them in four years and I know for a fact I sold allot of tractors for them. The owner told me himself that I've sold more tractors for him than all his salesmen combined. It's all in how the dealer treats you I guess. That's why I have a "Kioti Killer" :laughing:

I would imagine it wouldn't be too hard to connect up a warning buzzer to the parking brake light and the safety circuit in the HST pedal. That way when you set the brake the light would come on as normal. But if you stepped on the HST pedal while the parking brake is set the same function that would kill the engine if not sitting on the seat would activate the alarm.

The Clark forklifts we use have it all figured out. If you get off the seat without the brake on the alarm buzzer goes off. On the opposite side, the lift truck will not move (electronically disengaged) until the brake is turned off. It is clean and works
