The fuel is only cheaper in quality in Mexico, the price is higher. Their fuel comes from the government, not Exxon or chevron. You would think the government would give those poor people a break.
Well things must have changed in the last little while, fuel was a lot cheaper the last time I was there.

Really......Someone had better call and tell Mexico. Gas selling in Mexico on 6-22-2012: Mexico City, Mexico | $2.45. Gasoline was also selling for $2.80 a gallon in Russia. Say What????

Whoa there some of you fellows. The gist of the topic was intended to point out the environmentalists have gone way past the point of reasonable and will always find pollution in order to justify thier income and power. At one time NOX , HC and CO were the three concerns. Now that they have been controlled for decades. The technology haters have discovered the CO2 you breath out and the fine particles suspended in the air are now a problem. There has always been dust and dirt. As others have pointed out there is a point of vastly dimishing returns in emissions vs upfront and long term costs.

This is a really stupid and uncalled for statement...
We conservatives promote what we believe is the right thing...and, as you may note on TBN, there's a LOT OF US who agree.
If you consider that "the party line"...well, you're criticizing someone you don't know for their thoughts and opinions, that's rather unAmerican, don't you think?

He is Canadian Roy, he has no idea what true Americanism is except what he sees from the progressive movement and Obama.

:(

I assumed he meant that the gasoline there is not the quality for the price we have here in the USA
Also Mexico does not have the progressives stopping drilling and refining like we do in the USA

Check your facts, Mexico Mike says different. I was also incorrect, as it is a little cheaper from my last fill up. My gf is in Mexico now visiting her family. Her sister usually gets gas on this side of the border.
The point I was trying to make was, is the government run gas stations charge as much or more than evil big oil in this country.

So I was talking to my neighbor out in the middle of his field I was bush hogging for him. He lights up a cigarette. There was a light breeze. Everytime the smoke blew in my direction I either coughed or had to fight a cough. Guess I was reminded what clean air isn't!

Growing up I remember smelling my dad's Sir Walter Raleigh pipe tobacco. And on every grain truck and tractor, there was always a place on the fender or door where the paint had been knocked off by my old man hitting his pipe to get the old tobacco out. Man I'd give anything to smell that smell again! And for some odd reason, the smell of tobacco or the sight of a tobacco field represents freedom to me. And there ain't a whole lot of that left in this country today.

All this talk of the "nanny state" has hit a nerve with me. This isn't a right vs left thing. This is a freedom vs tyranny thing. This country was founded on a firm set of principles and beliefs, and the most important is the rule of law. Which means that no man is above the law. And that we are a country of laws and not of men. Men can change their minds, but our rights are given to us by God and can't be changed. The laws put in place back then were to limit the size and scope of government and not it's citizens. Our founding fathers said that our rights were given to us by God and not from the government. And being that they are given to us by God, they can not be altered or taken away. Understood was the fact that the rights I enjoy have no impact on your rights. For example your right to free speech doesn't cost me anything. That's why healthcare or a living wage for that matter, can never, ever, be a right.

People like John seem to believe that we must be subservient to the government and not the other way around. His distrust of free people and the free market is evident. People like this believe that businesses can't be trusted and that there is a government solution for everything. Call it what you want, the nanny state or liberalism or socialism, but note that the later two are siblings in the family of collectivism, along with communism and fascism.

Socialism, which seems to be what John and what our president believes in, is very flawed. At the very heart of this vision is the notion that a compassionate society care create more human living conditions for all through government planning and control. This is the nanny state at it's very best.

But the root of the problem is that the rule of law, on which our freedom itself utilmately depends, is incompatible with socialism. People who are free to do as they wish will not do as the government planners wish. Differences in values and priorities are enough to ensure that.

But in order for socialism to work, those differences must be ironed out by propaganda or force. And indoctrination must be part of the program, not because socialists want to be brains-washers, but because socialism requires brainwashing.

Taken to it's extreme, during the 20th century, the collectivist governments of Stalin, ******, Mao and others killed over 200 million human beings. For me, I'll take freedom any day. I understand that we do need a government, but it must be held to the tenants of what is allowed in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

One of my favorite quotes of Thomas Jefferson is - "When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny."

What we have today is tyranny.

Live free or die!
