What do You do for a living? I say hug a Farmer and a Coal Miner, not a tree hugger.

Do you think it is fair to the Coal Miner to not let him know the dangers of Diesel Exhaust?

What dept of the EPA or reelect Obama do you work for? Seriously, the EPA did a good job of cleaning up out of control industries, then they got out of control and now are a hammer over the head of business growth.

Oh, here's your link on the ocean dumping, of course that doesn't include as many as several dozen nuclear warheads that have been lost in the world's oceans by various military around the world. Ocean disposal of radioactive waste - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Thank You so much. This is proof of what I said. Have a good Day.

And I suppose you also believe the cavemen started the trend because they discovered fire? We might as well panic because NASA has also forecast that someday our sun with turn us into true carbon based lifeless forms. Oh well, my forecast is it will still come up tomorrow, and the day after, and maybe even the day after that.

But anyway, I digress. Anything petroleum based is a carcinogen. Do I worry? Nope, because I'm sure some other "carcinogen" will probably get me well before my tractor exhaust does.

Not sure why this thread went off the deep end. Started out with someone talking about the latest study showing diesel exhaust emissions to be a carcinogen. It's only the latest. Even the diesel engine manufacturers agree with the data and say the work being done to clean up the engines is the right thing to do. Will you die from diesel engine exhaust? Highly unlikely but the risk is there. Why the big objection to a cleaner environment? Technology is there to do it. Why not reduce the causes of our health problems instead of relying on new developments to treat the illnesses?

The sun has billions of years of life left.
So are you saying people shouldnt be warned because you think something else will get you anyway?

I interpret this to mean "pick your battle". A lot of us do not think we need laws that deal with the obvious. We go to extremes to "protect" others from conditions that we are aware of. In the example given, ANY internal combustion engine that is operated in an enclosed space is going cause the build up of deadly gases. We all know it, or should. We are forced to spend billions to make things perfect, in a imperfect world. Most of us would simply stay out of the enclosed area or ventilate it. I don't need a law from a government to help me decide. Self preservation gets it done.

Who is is talking about laws, This thread is about Diesel being labeled as a carcinogen.
