"I think Steave is right. That is an old pic of a MH(medium heavy) model that was discontinued a few years back. The ad has a pic of the MH model with the specs of their economy 500 cutter."

Yeah, that's kinda what I already stated above in the thread. Nice work, nonetheless.

The pic on Northern's site is not congruant with a medium/heavy cutter per their own description.

Ted - the Fred Cain 205 on your website. It's weight is 700 lbs, would you consider that medium duty? What width material does it handle?
I do consider the Fred Cain a medium duty that will cut around 1 1/2" material. For larger 2-3" capacity, we offer the heavy duty King Kutter rotary cutters with 60-80hp gearboxes and 8" I-beam side rails.

i bet if you shop craigslist or similar places you can find a slightly beat cutter in the 200$ range. I find them all the time.. from 0-200$ and drag them home to fix up. usually a small weld or seal or bushing and a quart of paint turns a 200$ beater into a mower again..

You would think so, but used cutters seem to be rare here in SE Virginia. I've looked high and low, and can only find 20 year old no-name brands that have been beat to heck, and the folks still want 600 bucks for them.

I'm going to go with the Fred Cain cutter from everythingattachments. In comparing brand name models it came out on top for price, gauge thickness, and weight.

I priced the Howse Hd 6100 this week for $1900. It has a 3/16 inch deck, 100 HP gear box and weighs over 1000 lbs with chains. Haven't shopped around yet but the specs sound decent in this price range...
