Cheap firewood carrier / trolley

I got tired of seeing a wheelbarrow full of wood at the back door so I made this to bring wood from the wood shed. The sack trucks are less than $20 when they are on special at Supercheap over here in Oz. I cut the back out of it then welded a couple of extra bars down the sides, and painted it black. It could be improved for sure, but it works fine for me. What do you guys use? Winters are milder here so we don't need huge stocks of firewood. This little load will keep us going for most of the week.

I like the idea. I use a lot of wood and have 32 inch doors on the house near the fireplace. Your idea will work nicely to fill the woodbox by the fireplace. Thank you for sharing.

I usually just fill my little trailer that I pull behind my lawn tractor (wood pile is about 70 or 80 yards from the house) and unhitch it and leave it on the back patio. I like your idea, though.

I had a cart similar to the OP's setup but used large bungees to secure the wood. I heat with wood and it finally broke down after 5 years and many trips bumping up and down the 12 steps to my basement.

I replaced it two years ago with the Vermont Carts Woodchuck:

It is expensive but a great improvement because it carries double the amount of wood, is easy to load, and roles easier on the steps.

I use a wood cart or a small yard trailer.

Just looked at the pic up close. That would only load my stove a little over 2x! Which in really mild temps would last 2 days or in cold temps for the area would last a day.

I hve one of those 4 wheel mesh type wagons. Just right to go through a wide door (36" I think). Load up and pull it into the back porch - good for 3 or 4 days in the worst of our weather...of course I start out the season by putting 2 cordsin the porch to begin with.

I have a dolly about that size and just lay it down, stack it on the dolly and move it to the front porch, which is covered. Make about 3 or 4 trips and I am good for a couple days. My only challenge is to make sure I get the wood moved there between rain storms which occur almost every day from November 1 until May 1, when we start to get a few rainless days now and then.
