Ruined my PTO Shaft

I messed up and cut my PTO shaft off, too short. I have a Woods RM360 mower. Will other brands of PTO shafts work with my mower?

Most any will work, as long as they're the correct length...an caveat though. Some gearboxes don't use the standard 1.375 x 6 spline stubshaft. For example, my Woods chipper uses an implement connection that has a milled flat for set screws. Another thing is the shear pin (bolt), if used.
Can't hurt to see what Woods charges for a replacement. Otherwise, try Tractor Supply and Agri-Supply.
BTW, Agri-Supply also sells a PTO Adapter for about 20 bucks. It goes on the tractor end and adds about 4"...that might work for you.

You could just buy the inner & outer shafts & reuse the yokes. Check out ptoshafts.com.
The most shaft sections are fastened to the yokes with a roll/split pin.
P.S. you might be able to get away with just replacing 1 of the shaft sections

I have had good luck buying a replacement shaft from Farm Equipment recyclers.

TSC had a shaft that fit the RM360, I bought one there last year, or 2 yrs ago for mine.

That would certainly be worth a try. You'd have to work at keeping it straight of course but I think it's do-able and what have you got to lose? Even if it isn't completely satisfactory, it would be a good learning experience....unless the PTO shaft can be repurposed on another piece of equipment where it would be the right length.

I found that you can usually buy the whole shaft cheaper than trying to buy just tubes, or just yokes.

I got mine from what is now haytools.com. It looks that for $120, you can get a complete series 4 shaft, with 1-3/8 splined on both ends, and 47"-67" length.

And They can get other stuff beyond what is listed. PTO Shaft and PTO Shields
