Gonna take some getting used too. Mowing this morning and got it hung up crossing a shallow ditch that I always crossed with the 855. I think I coulda backed out in 4wd if it wasn't so dang dry. The tires just spun on top of the dusty ground. I guess the extra 6 inches on each side is enough to hang me. I don't think the deck raises quite as high either. I'll have to change my mowing pattern a bit, but I'll get used to it in time. That 72MMM is a grass eating monster compared to my old 60". I took it out in some taller grass that I've only mowed with the tractor and shredder. The 60 woulda plugged the outlet, where this 72 seems to run about half full since it's much deeper at the outlet.

Were you also using the differential lock? That "half hook" shaped bar to the left of the 4WD engagement lever will lock the rear diff. Step down onto it as you're applying gentle pressure on one of the HST pedals and it will sink to the floor. You can keep your foot on it or let go - it's up to you. As soon as the tractor stops movement of the rears, it should pop back up and release the lock (be sure you unlock it after you're unstuck - don't just keep driving).

Also, what is the cluster of wires for behind the seat? Looks like you could plug something in to some of them if you wanted too.

I believe that you could use those for a variety of things, including additional ROPS-mounted work lights.

I read quite a few threads / comments about the tanks sagging over time and needing to remove the fuel cap to open / close the hood. I asked my dealer about it and he claims he never heard of it. Well, here I am at 35 hours on the tractor, just about a year old, and guess what? My fuel cap rubs against the inside of the opening in the hood now. Ask your dealer about it now... Get them to reach out to the area rep about it now... get it documented that you're asking about it.

I havent had any problem with fuel cap clearance... Until yesterday:( I read this post and thought that it wouldnt be a bad idea to check. Sure enough it has moved enough to hit and the hood wouldnt close without removing the cap. I emailed the dealer and mentioned that I had seen this issue mentioned and woudl it be covered by warranty. I was told that it would be. :) I have about 60hrs on the tractor.

I'll get it when I mow again, I was hot. I've got about a half acre to go and I'll probably give the whole thing a bath.

roush,
Congratulations on the new tractor.

If you have that much dust with a little mowing I would keep a blower handy to use on it. Keeping the radiator clean is very important especially during break in when temperatures can run higher than normal. I wouldn't advise washing the deck and spindles with a hose frequently either blow it off with air instead.

Knowing what I did to mine was a very simple solution,I would be interested to know what he (dealer) has in mind as a fix. No need to make a mountain out of a mole hill. My opinion of course:)

Good advice when it's mainly dust from grass cutting, is to get used to using a leaf blower on your machine before you put it away.
