We had more ice melting in Iceland and Greenland in the thirties than we do today, it was warmer and got warm faster in the Medieval Warming Period than currently. The dinosaurs lived on an earth much warmer than this and in none of those periods was man putting enough carbon in the air to effect it. Another funny thing, each of those periods save the 30's which hasn't been long ago enough for us to get a reading yet, have been followed by long and intense cold. Now several scientific groups are starting think we may now be peaking and heading into a major northern hemisphere wide devastating cold period similar to or worse than the Little Ice Age.
But frankly, like all of you passing opinions here, I don't really know. ;)

This is why people say the green agenda is a religion. Even when faced with the facts they still believe man is causing global warming. Even when the people who invented and coined the term admit to altering data, lying about the results, leaving out data that didn't support their cause (not a theory) people still believe. Reality is not where a 67 year old guy huddling in his shack covered in solar cells, claiming he is a brilliant scientist, watching the electric meter, lives.

You are one very peculiar fellow, but you are undersood.

Yea sure, but I cannot for the like of me begin to think of the unlimited amount of money companies would throw at this in an effort to fool people such as yourself into thinking there is nothing wrong. Many of those companies that have much to loose have bottomless pockets and have not really done much to protect anything in the world but there own interests unless mandated by federal law. Its that behavior that many with an open mind question, as well as the vilidity of any so called non bias studies on their behalf.
I can assure there is more money being spent to debunk any climate change finding due to the amount of money those companies have to loose.
While many may argue with you Houstonscott, I presume you have some sort of interest in the oil company's, due to your location, and your post. Therefore, you are unopened to any real debate. I also do not believe these brillant scientist are like the hermits you discribe that spent their life savings. Many happen to be nationally recogized organizations Scientific opinion on climate change - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia with nothing to gain.
SO ya see,by opening your eyes, and reflecting on just who has the most to loose it fairly easy to see who's fooling who.

What cleans up the environment is a free republic form of government. Capitalism and private property rights. Small governments and low taxes. For the people of a country to turn its efforts to cleaning the environment they must first have enough profits to turn efforts that way. Poor countries pollute. They are still trying to feed their people. Rich countries clean up and have the excess to do so. Access to cheap energy is key to that. A free market and capitalism is what gives people the distance from basic needs, food, energy, transportation, water, sewage, lights, when those things are basic the clean up can start. Oil, gas, and coal make this place the envy of the world, and we are not giving it up to chase some mythical unicorn alternative fuel source. It also takes a person of great leadership, the same person created the clean water act, the clean air act, the EPA, the endangered spices act and got us cleaned up. His name was Richard Nixon.

HS

He lied....

Geeze, we are the world's biggest per capita polluter, where do you get your info? We're the envy of the world? I was just listening to a nurse who just came back from Scotland. The people over there think our medical system is a world joke. We don't cure people we just hook them on drugs - for a life time. Don't lose weight, don't cut your salt intake, take this pill for your high blood pressure. We aren't even in the top ten of healthiest countries. Our education system is so low on a world scale that it's an embarrassment. Obesity is epidemic and our government is a corporate institution which now has the same rights as the individual.

First, I don't claim to be anything but net zero.

I don't watch my electric meter, it turns in reverse all on its own. I just get a credit every month for my excess power.

Where is reality, by the way? Paying that electric bill every month? Paying that annual heating/cooling fuel cost?

Might be your reality but it's not mine.

In the 30's we didn't have towns in Alaska moving because the perma-frost was melting under them.

In the 30's we didn't have towns in Alaska moving because the perma-frost was melting under them.

How does that negate what was happening in Iceland and Greenland? I totally fail to see the logic. Just because some areas had one thing at a certain point while others had the opposite within a reasonable time, does not prove one over the other.
I mean any person that claims others are not open minded should at least wonder when the very people that started AGW say things like;
Lovelock is a legendary guru of the global warming movement, and the author of books entitled The Revenge of Gaia: Why the Earth Is Fighting Back – and How We Can Still Save Humanity and The Vanishing Face of Gaia: A Final Warning: Enjoy It While You Can. It turns out you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy it, because Lovelock, at age 92, is writing a new book in which he admits he was an “alarmist” and all of his earlier predictions were totally wrong.

No, really. Here’s what he says, as reported by MSNBC:

“The problem is we don’t know what the climate is doing. We thought we knew 20 years ago. That led to some alarmist books – mine included – because it looked clear-cut, but it hasn’t happened,” Lovelock said.

“The climate is doing its usual tricks. There’s nothing much really happening yet. We were supposed to be halfway toward a frying world now,” he said.

“The world has not warmed up very much since the millennium. Twelve years is a reasonable time… it (the temperature) has stayed almost constant, whereas it should have been rising — carbon dioxide is rising, no question about that,” he added.

He pointed to Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” and Tim Flannery’s “The Weather Makers” as other examples of “alarmist” forecasts of the future.

This is exactly the kind of stuff that gets reasonable people denounced as the equivalent of “Holocaust deniers” by the enraged primitives of the global-warming cult. Later in the MSNBC interview, Lovelock says “I’m not a denier,” even though he did, in fact, just deny the whole rotten anthropogenic global warming con job.

Now take all that, warming/cooling argument and try to prove that is all happening because of man is burning fossil fuels. They are all non sequitur.
