are these tractors 4WD? or 2WD?

They are both 2WD machines. The smallest 4WD machine John Deere makes is the X728 garden tractor. It is gas powered. They also make a diesel powered version called the X748.
You won't be able to step into a green machine with 4WD for anything under $10,000, new.
