Need a recommendation for rototiller for Bobcat CT122?

I am looking for a recommendation for good Rototiller to mount on my Bobcat CUT a CT122. I am new to this whole tractor thing so any ideas will be appreciated. Its a 46 inch wide tractor with 22hp, gardening 1/2 -1 acre of ground, no rocks. Will have a bigger garden someday soon. I know Howard's are suppose to be pretty good, but short of that I am,, well, clueless on what a good brand is. Chain or gear driven, reverse rotation green or orange, off-set. Its all so confusing.

How wide are your rear tires set, outside sidewall to outside sidewall?
It sounds like a 48" might be a good fit.
I have had outstanding luck with a 60" King Kutter II on our L tractor and a 40" Phoenix (Sicma?) on our little B.

You have to go by the PTO hp when your matching your tractor to a tiller. You have 16.2 pto HP. Thats going to limit the tillers you can choose from.

I like foward rotation over reverse. Takes less power and mixes in green manures better in the garden. Strongly reccomend standard foward rotation for your situation. (also they are usually cheaper)

Most of the smaller tillers have chain instead of gear. I've used both and other than needing to check the chain every year or so there isn't any difference that I can tell. Gear might be more quiet.

Don't worry about taking out both treads. Almost all the smaller tillers will offset to take out one track and thats all you need. I've had both kinds and currently have a Kuhn EL62 that takes out both my tracks, used to have a JD 660. Taking out both tracks is vastly overrated compared to having a narrower tiller that matches your tractors power to make tilling a pleasure.

Kubota no longer sells tillers since they have a marketing agreement with Landpride. Most all the tillers are made in Italy and then marketed by a brand. Land Prides are made in USA (more or less). Do a search in the Attachment forum for "tiller". Read all night.

With only 16 pto HP I would think that 50 inches would be almost too big. 42" with a little offset would be perfect. Brands I would buy are Kuhn, Landpride, Befco, JD,Sicma. Tomorrow call your local JD dealer and get a price on a 647. Don't worry about paying more for the green paint you'll get it back later when you sell it used or trade it in. We have been using Bobcat tractors for our how-to videos and really like them. We made a very informative video of our Everything Attachments 52" tiller being used behind a CT122 tractor just like yours and it is a great combo! The performance of that little tractor is really impressive. The tiller comes with a slip clutch driveline, a true helical gearbox and 6 tines per flange. You'll find the video here.

I use a 60 in KK on my 18 PTO HP massey in heavy clay sod running only 1500 rpm. (app 2500 rpm is 540 pto) you will have no problem with a 60" and if I take out two rows of whatever in the middle of the garden i leave no tracks. Get a 60" you won't regret it, but I think you will if you get a smaller one. KK is a good heavy duty tiller. If mine was stolen or something I would buy another just like it.

I agree Ed, I would put a 60-62" tiller behind that tractor without blinking an eye!

I have a 225. it has a bit more weight and HP. Wet clay soil strains it. I think a 60" on your tractor is a bit much. You shout look at 48-52" units.

Its the HST model, I don't think the Bobcat comes in the gear version like the Kioti does.
