I know this is not high quality saw, but it only has 4 hours on it and it was given to me. After I replaced the fuel lines and cleaned the carb, I put it together and it starts on the first or second pull but will only run until it gets hot, then quits. After it cools down it will do the same thing. I have about 40 dollars in it right now for parts(fuel line, carb, and orings for caps). I was thinking that the only thing that would be left would be the coil, but a new one runs 30 dollars and it that doesn't fix I will have 70 in a non running saw. So my question is, would it be the coil? Should I even continue trying to fix it? What else could it be?

Coil, carb kit, or low compression. Pull the muffler and look at the piston, if it's scarred up and looks bad, that's the problem. If looks good, then might be coil, or carb.

The piston looks good and how can you tell if the carb is bad this one fuel keeps going through it doesn't seem to run out
is there a test for the coil?

I had a polan weed wacker do just that to me in 1996. At the time it was under warrentee and the polan people did all they could to find the problem. After a couple of trips to Halifax for repairs that did not work they asked me to take to a person outside of Bridgewater and they could find no reason for it and told mw that I was dreamming. I had them watch as I filled the tank and started working it, after around 10 minites it died and they wheere stumped. Polan then sent me a fax that allowed me to bring it back to the place where I bought it and got a full refund. That is after of course them spending over $500.00 to prove me wrong. I then bought myself a stihl weed wacker, it is still running like a top.
lesson to self stop waisting your time on cheep stuff, when it breaks dump it in the trash and get yourself a good replacement.
And a note here, the place that I took it back to removed the carb and serial number and sent me on my way with the refund and the rest of the parts. A mechanic friend of mine put a torch to the cylinder and a crack appeared, as it cooled off the crack closed.

No way to tell if it needs a carb kit, but if it needed fuel lines or if it had bad gas setting in it, it probably needs a carb kit. Don't know how to test a coil, but some do bad when they get hot.

I havent read this whole thing. But I took in a 3314 that should have went in for warranty work. Was brand new and never ran right erratic throttle and wouldn't hold a idle very erratic.

I ended up going in the carb several times till I figured out the fulcrum was bent. Straightened it to specs and she ran fine afterwords.

This chainsaw had ran just fine for about 4 hours and then set aside for 5 years
so went through the carb and new fuel lines and few other little things and it will start up and run until it gets hot

Check your spark when cold then get it hot and quits then check it again.
