And how many different tools did you use in the process? How many different hardware items did you handle?

I don't expect anyone to keep count nor go back and think about what they did and add everything up, but so far this weekend I have:

Dug a huge hole and planted a 14' tree and staked it.

Repaired garden fence

Repaired a push mower and sharpened the blade

Fixed a short in my trailer lighting wiring

Cleaned up, sorted out and reorganized two shops (north barn and garden shed)

Cut and installed 30' of vinyl lattice and cut and bent 15' of aluminum trim
prior to installing it

Powerwashed, sanded, and stained much of one deck

And probably a whole bunch of other things I don't even recall doing....

My wife has a hard time understanding why I can waste so much time puttering around doing "little jobs" but she wastes several hours a day playing useless online games like Cafe World and Farmville....

I love to read what people (who don't sit on the couch) do in their spare time. Great source of inspiration for future projects.

Restored a sailboat I just bought. Went to launch it for the first time today but it started raining just as I hit the boat ramp :(. It's sunny again right now, but no wind to speak of.

Things I did to it:

- Removed old keel, ground keel mount down to nothing

- Cut and poly'd new keel wood

- Glued keel into place, then fiberglassed over it.

- Removed and replaced decking wood (more poly + stain)

- Painted inside of boat (removed all hardware, taped, painted, reinstalled all hardware, polishing when necessary)

- Installed new jib line cleats with custom made cedar lifter blocks (more poly, sanding and poly)

- Replaced tiller extension arm with oak dowel (more stain, poly, sanding and poly)

- Fabricated a stainless steel slotted holster for the mast base, allowing me to raise and lower the mast on my own (OEM was just a nub the mast rested on)

- Made cedar battens for the main sail (seller didn't have the OEM battens) (more poly, sanding and poly)

- Replaced bow reinforcing pillars (4 of them) with cedar (more poly)

- Replaced mast transport bases with custom taller ones (to clear the new slotted mast base)

- Sanded and re-poly'd wooden oar

- Installed floatation foam

- Fabricated steel boom crutch (holds boom in place when main sail is down)

- and other stuff I'm sure I forgot

Major tools used:
- Oscillating belt sander
- Router
- Sliding miter saw
- Table saw
- Drill press
- Sanders (various)
- Grinders (various)
- Band saw
- Metal sheer
- Metal brake
- MIG welder
- Plasma cutter
- Anvil

Somewhere in there I mowed the lawn with my tractor and recent finish mower, though I'm lacking so much sleep I can't recall when.

I started making horseshoe pits, but am only 3/4 finished one side. I'm simply out of juice..

...while you waste several hours a day telling us about the little jobs you do while your wife is wasting time online...

...sorry, I could not resist. ;) :D

Geez, you guys make me feel somewhat lazy...
I cut down an old apple tree that was mostly dead... the drought probably had a part in that.
Had a dip in the pool with my grandsons...
drug all the branches back to the brush/burning area...
had another swim...
used the BX24 hoe to dig out the stump (about 18" caliper)...
when I had the stump out, decided to dig down to see when moisture appeared in the clay.... man, is that dry clay ever hard !
got down about 4 feet before the dust stopped flying when I dumped the bucket.
and this about 12 feet away from my 22 foot-deep dug well.
opened the well and measured 8 feet of water (at 14 foot level)
we've had just 1/2 inch of rain (last Wednesday night) since middle of June.

Where do you sail in Kentucky?

Wife and I have been sailing San Francisco Bay the last couple of years...

RobertN, that picture is stunning. Do you live close. If so how lucky you are.

The trailhead is about an hour and 15 minutes away from my house. That is Emmigrant Lake. It is near Carson Pass and Kirkwood ski resort, about an hour south of Lake Tahoe in the Mokelumne Wilderness. It is a beautiful five mile hike in.

Off the backside of the ridge behind the lake, wagon tracks are still visible. As famous as the Donner Party was, after the problems they had getting over the Sierra's that route was practically abandoned until the railroad was built. The route thru Carson Pass was used.

I am still working on this one. But I did have to stop long enough to pick a couple of bushels of peppers for some people.

And I still have a couple of pages of projects to complete. I also need to pull out the winter project list and prioritize.
