Deer

I would if I had any, we've had less than a half inch of rain here all month (they ahve done better in the extreme southern part of the state). Had to water the garden twice and I hated to do it. Now black flies and deer flies I can send ya.

Now those deer flies we can use... aggravate them deer, to keep from eating all the wife's flowers and ornamentals

Now the trouble with that; they don't mind gnawing on humans one bit

No sense in planting sweet corn around here in small plots, the deer wait until its ready to pick and they come in and destroy it in 2 nights. I like the pan and peanut butter trick though, might have to try that again.

And chipmunks.... its open season on them around here after they got into my crawl space. The cable repair guy replaced a cable line that ran though there and to the outside through a hole in the foundation where the a/c lines go. He failed to plug it back up, and the c-munks moved in. Plugged up the hole with expanding foam, they ate right through that in one night. Tried duct seal and that worked great.

Had a similar problem with mice. I shot some foam in the hole and then real quickly pushed in a hunk of bronze wool, then some more foam. They haven't been back.

My cheap deer repellant is some eggs in a squirt bottle and let it sit outside. Gets real stinky fast and doesn't cost much. Just have to spray down wind or the wife won't let me back in the house! Not sure if I can get a depradation permit in Santa Cruz because of the ordinance against discharge of firearms within 250' of an occupied dwelling. I remember reading about some one being cited for that years ago, he was shooting gophers with a 357!

OMG! How would you ever know if you hit one? There would be no evidence!!!
