I am coming up on my 50 hour service on my CT235 and I've been watching the recent threads on the fluids and filters. Is it really legal for Bobcat to void the warranty if you don't use their fluids?

Who or where does it say you have to use thier fluids or service? GM was sued years ago over this..

Fed law passed many yrs back. Law says if the mfgr says you have to use their brand products to maintain warranty, THEY have to supply it to customer at no additional cost. This law cam about yrs back when auto mfgrs were denying warranty service if customer didn't use the mfgrs brand/recommendation. Sorry, can't recall the name of the legislation.

The name of the legislation is called Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act I believe.

Yeah...I thought so, but there was some talk on a few threads about bobcat service reps saying using other fluids voids warranty. Thanks for confirming.

I worked in equipment dealers for 12 years of my career. Never once was a warranty issue denied because of aftermarket filters or oil, then again, I don't recall it ever coming into question. I only ever warrantied one engine and that was a failed intake gasket. The only hydraulic issue I remember was an aeration problem than resulted in a factory correction to the pickup location. Oil and filter failures just don't happen that often in my experience.
