Could someone help me decide if the scratches on the hood of my 3316 can be repaired by me or should I have a paint and body shop do it. " See attached pics " I know that scratches give the tractor "character" but let it happen after I have at least 25 hours on her. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Looks a little like my 3316. I dropped a log out of bucket onto hood. ouch!! I don't think you can buff it out, to deep showing bare plastic. You should see my Kubota she has a permanent frown from too close a contact with a few trees. Makes her look bad for a small tractor. I put a brush guard on my 3316 and it's all that gets skinned up in confrontations with the elements. I see you have a brush guard. At least it won't rust. How good are you with a spray bomb? Other wise it's a pro.

Thanks for the info! I am not familiar with a spray bomb. Can you let me know what that is?
Thanks

Those scratches appear very superficial. Try applying some rubbing compound to just the scuffed area. It may take applications. If you are happy with the results, wax the whole tractor, inside the hood, and as some fanatics do, go for the wheel wells.

I just did a complete polish job on my back hoe, and the tractor. I also washed the entire inside of the hood, making sure to thoroughly flush all of the dirt from the foam rubber cushion. When it dried I sprayed it with lemon Pledge. Easiest wax job I've ever done.

Wash it, wax it and you will be good to go. I know that the scratches bother you now, but clean everything up and put her back to work. All will be good. ;) If you get it painted, it will NEVER be the same. :(

Especially if you paint it blue like some guy I know...

Back on subject, I'd buff the hood out and not spend the $$ on paint right now. Wait until you do some serious damage, and we hope that never happens. You will still see the scratches some, but it will sure look better.

I never thought that if it was painted red that it might be ok. And like I said, it will never be the same, mine isn't anyway. Seriously though, I stand by my other post, wash, wax, go back to work.

I agree, it's a tractor!

I was demolishing a burnt out mobile home frame with my loader when a large chunk of MH frame slipped off the loader bucket and dented my hood. When I got it home I removed the hood and ornament. I turned it over on a piece of carpeted plywood and hammered the dent out with a rubber mallet (and other assorted hammers). Skim coated it with body filler, sanded, primed, resanded and sprayed it with a spray can of almost matching paint from local tractor supply store. Looks good as new. Its a tractor.

3m makes a very nice kit for scratch removal. It is similar to their headlight renewal kit so it has everything you need in its package (except paint of course). You can make it look like it never happened.
