What to do...what to do?

Looks like Uhaul has a 6x12 flatbed available in Fort Collins for $35ish/day. Might be worth calling around and seeing when they can get one in your town.

Do you have a generator that would fit in your truck along with the sprayer (I assume that you have a truck, if not this wont work)?
If so, you could get a motor such as: Surplus Center - 1/2 HP EMERSON 900 RPM AC MOTOR, put a 2" pulley on the motor, a 5" pulley on a jack-shaft and couple the pump to the jackshaft. Then you could run the sprayer out of your truck with a one time cost of not much more than a trailer rental.

Alternatively, put an ad in Craigslist looking for a trailer to rent for the day...

I don't own a generator either.

Thanks for checking the U-Crawl web site for me, I do appreciate it. A 12' flatbed will barely get my rig on it without the sprayer; unless I remove the loader, which thankfully is no big deal. I do have a line on some trailer rentals from Sunbelt, United Rental, and a local one off rental shop.

I freely admit I'm trying to be as cheap and lazy with this project as possible, and I think the CRP guy's hard-on for spraying is a bit ridiculous.

you can buy a 12v on demand sprayer pump, from harbor freight, grainger, and other ag stores. for 50 to 100 bucks.

you can pick up a 15amp inline fuse holder and fuse, and then a 15amp dip switch. for less than 10 bucks.

all you need is water. 30 gallon drums, 55 gallon drums, heck trash cans can work. it does not need to be an air tight container. if you have some sort of large tote that will hold water. and you truck can handle it. put it in the back of the pickup truck.

TIP: buy a pair of cheap jumper cables. cut one end off, to get the clips. so you have a quick easy way to connect to battery on truck. run the postive and neg battery cables out from under hood, wrap it around passanger side mirror. and then back into bed of pickup truck. were the on demand pump is located.

all you need is line from tank of water, to pump, and then from pump to a pressure wand. buy enough hose to bring hose through window so you can just spray out the side of your window as you drive.

as someone else said, be careful of the muffer/coverter below vehicle. more so in dry stuff, you could cause a fire to start.

i doubt i would drive a car through tall weeds, more so do to low ground clearance a car has. but you could toss a 55 gallon drum or like in back of the trunk if you wanted to.

there is not much to a "12v on demand sprayer pump" you turn them on. and will auto sense when it needs to turn on / off. they only exception is it will not know when you are out of water/chemical mix.

if you do not want to mess with battery on vehicle. then get a trolling motor battery, charge it up. and take along with you.

2.7 acres is not a lot. 27 acres yes, but 2.7 not that much.

heck if you do not want to go through DIY a sprayer. just buy a ATV sprayer, set in back of pickup truck or car or what not. and get a trolling motor battery or like battery. and get some clips for battery. to run from pump on sprayer to battery within a inline fuse.

if you want longer reaching hose so you can get out of vehicle and spray with a hang gun. get a couple hose size to garden hose adapters, and then some cheap garden hose. so you can just add more garden hose for longer reach.

You have plenty of company on that score. That's why your problem is so interesting. ;) Now where are those pic's. We need more info!!

If cheap is your goal, discing 2.7 acres is going to be the cheapest. Just the cost of the chemicals to spray is will cost you more than $100. You will need to mix grass/weed killer with 2-4-D tree killer and spray to kill everything and that will be costly.
If you can find a local guy with a disc, that 3 acres wont take long to do or rent a trailer and do it yourself. At least by discing you know the stuff is down and dead whereas with spray it may take multiple applications to kill everything to the CRP desired outcome.
Remove your FEL and your tractor and disc should fit on a 16 foot trailer. This Govt. money isnt going to be like a welfare check, looks like you may have to do something to earn it (imagine that - must not be an Obama plan)

The pics will come the next time I'm out at the property, which I don't know when it will be.

No trees on the property, just indigenous grasses and some Russian Knapweed, which is considered an invasive species here. Yeah, that's my big concern about spraying is I may have to do it multiple times, which will get costly, let alone be a royal PITA. I'd rather disc, than smooth with my rear blade to get a decent seed bed.

CRP should be labeled CRaP for all the hassle involved (e.g. paperwork, land prep in some cases, etc).
