I think my guess may be a tad short. Depends on what is used. I was looking at the posting # when you click on a thread, and not the number on the main page And there seems to be about a 15k difference. Does that mean that there have been 15k posts deleted??

I am wondering the same thing - when I clicked on the most recent post it was 2,964,176 while the count on the main page is 2,949,xxx so which is the "official count" ?

I would assume its the actual post (clicking on the # in the post)

Can anyone verify which it is?

From the rules:

TractorByNet.com will be the only and official party to decide which post is the 3,000,000th, and who the winners are. We will use the post count on the main index to decide which post is #3,000,000.

The count on the main index is the number of non-deleted posts. I am sure that at some point Muhammad will say that post 3,0xx,xxx in the post number will be the official post 3,000,000.
