Seafoam

If most people caught somebody pouring baby oil, Coleman lantern fuel and gasoline antifreeze into an automatic transmission. There would be shouting, threats and either a beating or the cops being called.

why?... mineral oil.. naptha and alcohol... pretty common addatives....

None of those products add any pressure point or shear capacity to reduce gear and bearing wear.
As for the effect on the friction modifiers in auto trans oil. Alcohol and naphtha gasoline rated for use with wet clutches.
Then lets think about the clutch fibers and the adhesive holding the friction material onto the steel backing Plates. Alcohol and naphtha will soften the fiber materials
If you are the type that believes that there is a quick easy fix . Take your sea foam budget, purchase a little IPA and add it to the fuel tank. Now take the rest of the seafoam budget and purchase some ethanol alcohol for yourself.

easy.. use an older atf.. like type f.

as far as napth goes. I think on a micro level it can be classified as a lubricant..

How is the low viscosity naphtha going to benefit the oil's lubrication? The naphtha and IPA will evaporate out the first time the trans oil heats up to 200F .Hopefully sooner than later to get rid of the contamination.
This still leaves the IPA and/or naphtha to attack the sealing and/or friction materials.
Only thing to add to an auto trans in an emergency is Lucas or similar products. To swell the seals to allow the failing machine to limp home.

Actually lots of folks dont know water is a lube also anything has film strength at some level. fwtw

I have seen engines run for hours on just water at fairs etc where you bet on how long they will live..

Yep think tile saw and concrete saw. Its not just for dust and cooling.

Same reason that wood is sawed green, you will burn up the bands in a mill sawing dried out logs.

just for conversation but...I do remember back in 1981 here where I live we had a 100 year flood here and cars were under water and we found out clutch facings on auto tranys were held on with water based glue not good.

All the shops here built a lot of trannys paid by insurance. The glue is not affected by water now the clutch manufactures learned their lesson otherwise water once gotten out would not hurt them. fwtw

emulsion lubes can be common om milling equipment too.

Sea Foam is just a 70 year old product to remove piston carbon build up vs removing the head and scraping it clean in outboard engines. It just so happens to work quite well in crankcases, automatic transmissions and fuel system too from our usage experience.

Example for one, gulp, site BIBOG and look up seafoam...Overpimped and overpriced. Again, Amsoil Powerfoam is light years better, 131 is good if needed and water will work well if done correctly (aka be smart)..

If someone wants to pay $9 for a little can, have at it...I can buy 2 amsoil foams that do more for the same price.
