Yes they are geared pretty low, are you running max rpm's of 2600?

My old 1984 Yanmar did about 14 MPH and my little Kubota B26 about 12 but my LS gets on down the road at above 25 MPH. That is about as fast as one wants to go on a tractor. I wonder how fast those Nitro fueled sled pullers would go.

The performance of the DK 40 HST with 4 n 1 bucket, 180 lb on each rear wheel and tires loaded is great with shift lever in L or M range however shift into H range at maximum throttle on any incline tractor speed is reduced within a short time, at this point the tractor has gotten so slow will require to stop and shift into M range which should be able to happen on the go, maybe the engine needs about 60 HP.

Then it wouldn't be a DK 40, it would be a D K60.

The DK50 is the same thing as the DK40, just some extra horsepower. How fast do you need to go?

That's a good response from Murphy it sure gave me a Sunday laugh , I would think the tractor should maintain an up hill speed without slowing down to a craw .

you do know to keep the tractor in it's torque band by backing off of the hydrostat pedal right? In other words, you can go a little faster by backing off of the pedal to make the rpms go back up and stay in the sweet spot of torque and rpm's. If you hammer the pedal, unless you are in Low range it will slow down.

It's apparent the HST is the mechanism consuming up hill HP, any person that's operated a gear driven tractor with equivalent HP most cases have no up hill issues. and yes I have and do back off the foot pedal ..Thank you men for your expeditious help with this matter !
