This is news to me. What the heck is the "John Deere Promise"? First off, do you own the tractor outright, or is it financed? Not that it should make a difference. So you went up to Hudson River tractor and they told you NO, that they would not take the trade in? Something is very wrong when HRT doesn't want to make a deal. I can't walk passed the sales desk without them trying to sell me something. Sad part is, they often succeed. I am a real sucker for a sale, especially when it comes to tractors.

Anyway, give me more details, and if there is any way I can help, let me know.

I never made it to Hudson. I spoke with JD finance on the phone. I am financing the tractor and its still under 30 days of use. They said i had to deal with the original dealer i financed from. No biggie, it seems like its going to work out. Thanks for your help Carl. How much land do you have?

Ohhhhh, now I'm starting to understand. You financed the X540 less then 30 days ago, and now decided you want to exchange it for a bigger one. Wow, that is an interesting situation.

I remember when I bought my Kubota B26 2 years ago. A week after I bought it, I started to feel that I had made a mistake, and should have gotten the B3200, which is a much cheaper model. I happened to be in a different dealer about a week later, and I asked him if I did the switch, how much would I lose. Keep in mind, my machine only had about 15 hours on it. He said I would lose 25%, which came to about $9,000, plus the tax. Needless to say, I still have the B26, and glad I do.

I really don't get why a tractor loses so much when you start using it, but it seems that it does. Anyway I can see why you would have to go back the original dealer. If anyone can help you out of your predicament it would be him. How many hours do you have on yours?

I only have an acre of land myself, which backs up to woods. I am in a development called The Cliffs. Just like you, my tractor to land ratio is way off. Good luck and let me know how it turns out.

It's kinda like a car, not worth as much new. However I feel that they hold value a lot better than most cars, and 25% surprises me. I would have thought more like 10...

Yeah I was pretty shocked myself. In all honesty, if I knew this, I more then likely would have looked for a 1 or 2 year old tractor instead of new. Let the first guy take the hit. Live and learn.

Thats what I did when I bought my 3320, it was 6 months old with 90 hours on it and included a bunch of attachments. Saved $10,000 over the best new price I could find for the same package.

So got the x748se today. I will post some pics up tomorrow. This thing makes the x540 look tiny. The tractor is just solid and looks better in person. If no rain going to mow tomorrow.

NICE, hope you didn't lose too much in the trade. The X748 will last you a life time. Great choice. Like my dad always said, do it right the first time and you will never regret it. Well in your case, the second time. Lol. Can't wait to see some pics. Let me know if the SE seat is worth the extra bucks. Thanks Carl B

You will Like the 748SE. I've had mine 6 years (900 hours). It is a tank, I have tortured it, and it still works like new. I till, mow, blade, disk, and blow snow with it. I'm hoping to give it a rest (a little) now that I have a 4720.

So I cut the lawn today and I heard a noise a few times coming from the deck. When i looked under, i can see that the right side blade (looking at the tractor) is hitting the deck. Then i notice that when riding with the deck all the way up (transport mode) the deck is slightly touching the right (looking at the tractor) rear tire. The left tire just barely clears.

Maybe I have to readjust the deck and blades. Any x700 with 7 iron owners have this experiences? Thanks.

So what was the outcome? We're you able to adjust the deck? I am curious about the blade coming in contact with the deck housing. Don't see how that could be, considering these machines are supposedly tested before they are sent to the dealer. Maybe a loose blade? Ok let me know.
