alternator conversion massy 135

the generator armature shaft broke,so i'm going to change it over to an alternator,i just happen to have a spare alt. in the garage, i made all the brackets i need,and have it mounted on the tractor. i'm looking for a diagram or just an explanation on how to connect the alt.to the existing voltage regulator,or do i need to get a different regulator. i dont know where the alt.came from or what it fits. its a delco alternator with 2 post batt.,and grnd.,2 -1/4 in. spades marked "R"&"F".

Try this link. Tyler Woods explains it very well. I read his notes amoung others before doing mine. In my case I eliminated the voltage regulator because the alt had one built in. I also changed out the amp gauge to a volt gauge. I have a thread (link below in my signature) where I'm refurbishing my 135, (4 cyl gas version) mostly cosmetic which shows a few pictures where I modified the dynamo bracket. Take a piece if thick rope to check the length of belt you will need. It will be longer and got mine at autozone for few bucks. I aquired an alternator similar to yours but was equipped with a tachdrive on the rear to keep all my instruments functional.

BTW, if you need a hood and sides for your Perkins, I'll make you a good deal. I bought a new hood and sides and found out later that the Perkins and Continental hoods open on opposite sides. If I had knows this, I would have asked the question about the hood before purchase, so it was part my fault and didn't force the dealer to take it back.
