So it's off to the wish book! Here's what I think are my best options: brp canam outlander 800, a Yamaha grizzly 700 eps le or the brute force??? We ride alot of heavy muskeg up here and in the juice you need the power, any advice will be appreciated!

Don't rule out a King Quad. IMHO, it has the best ergonomics of the quads. I bought a RZR a few yours ago and haven't looked back. Its not likely that I'll ever own another quad. I ended up selling the quads because they didn't get ridden since the sxs purchase.

We have had two Yamaha Grizzleys,660cc...plenty of power and dependable.The new ones are 700cc and injected,even better.

Thundercat 1000cc if power and height is all you want. I personaly dont see why a 500cc isnt enough unless you are riding 35" mudzilas and a height of 12". I see folks riding in thick Maine mud with 400cc quads and with a passenger.

On the Polaris forums there are lots of guys from Alaska using 500's in the muskeg up there but if you want more power the new Polaris XP 900 is a torque monster.

If you are having issues just getting through then the right tires will make a big difference. However too large of tires without a corresponding increase in power and/or clutch mods could make things worse.

I have been fixing a lot of quads lately and I recently got my first large
Chinese ATV. It's an 07 400cc 4x4 with CVT automatic, made by Chongqing
HuanSong Industries (HiSun). After much research, I find that this
company makes ATVs up to 700cc with FI, and seems to have some
parts that are identical to those on Yamaha Grizzly/Bruin/Wolverine ATVs!
Just missing the Yamaha logos.

In your opinion, does this 7 year old china quad have considerably more rust then a brand name counterpart?? Just sayin - to me it looks like it sat on the ocean beach since day 1.

You got it! This ATV is only 5 yo, and it has been sitting outside near the ocean
for several years. Extremely rusty. The tires have no visible wear. The old
dude who owned it died shortly after buying it. It was traded to me for some
work I did on a Honda 400EX. Just sold it as-is.

I once bought a Honda m/c for its engine. It had sat outside in Pacifica, CA for several
years. The frame had rusted completely thru. Not a brand thing. Ocean
salt is even worse than road salt, IMO. BTDT.
