Backhoe 1974 Massey Ferguson 50A backhoe service manual

Hi fellas

Just bought an old 74 50A with cab for clearing a few stumps and brush on the new property we bought. The machine is in pretty decent shape for the year, needs a seal in the right out rigger cylinder and the top bushing in the swing is bad. Engine starts and idles extremely smooth, tires are good, the hydraulics seem to work good didnt want to push them to much with the top swing bushing being so sloppy.

Paid $4000 for the machine, good bad?

Any reviews on this machine would be helpful as well as a service manual if anyone has one or the direction to get one.

I'm not familiar with that exact model so I can't really say for sure. The old Massey Ferguson tractors were built like tanks, so I'd say you shouldn't have too much to worry about. The only real problem area that comes to mind is to check for water intrusion into the transmission/axle sumps via the shift boots or cover gaskets which can contaminate the hydraulic fluid making it a milky color. The rest is just basic maintenance stuff that's applicable to all tractors.
