Hello all,

I just purchased an MX5100. WOW. great unit, going to put a bunch of hours on it this weekend. I got the R4 tires even though I wanted ag tires because the ag front is 9.5x16. it seems so skinny I am wondering about it digging in making huge ruts especially when the FEL is full of manure.
What is it with kubota and skinny front ag tires? I was looking for something in the 12-13 wide area to help with ground pressure rates.
Anyone tried or had success finding/equiping their Kubota with wider front ag tires?

Thanks,

There is not much available in those sizes. If you want to barf out the bucks Michelin does make a tire that has a bigger foot print but I can't remember if they are compatible with the rears for axle ratios. I looked into it for my 5740 but I could not stomach the price tag.

I use R1 ag,s and the do have a narrower stance. But they offer better traction on mud and snow. The down side is that they
Leave deeper ruts than R4's. From what I understand, R4's have a wider stance as they are a cross between R1's and turf tires. You might consider a turf/ truck style tire if you are not in dirt field, or mud that often. Just a thought.

Ags need to be skinny to dig in and get traction.

Yeah. They dig in real good.
I will admit to being heartbroken when I first saw them when my tractor was delivered.
The tractor that I drove at the dealership had R4s on it and the difference in appearance is immediately apparent.
Like the difference between the aggressive stance of a Wide Track Pontiac GTO and a SAAB 92.

Two guesses which one's better in the snow.

Ah man, it don't look that bad... ;)

Think more like an old Ford 4wd 3/4 ton pickup with tall skinny mud grips. :D

And I set my rears out all the way, for that wide stance look. ;)

More stable also...

R1 tire are mainly used in agriculture applications and do offer better traction over the others. They are narrower so they will fit inside the rows easier and do less damage to the crops.
