Grandmother will be ok. I had to go catch the snake to see what kind it was, she thought it was a ground rattler. I call the hospital and told them it was a copperhead and they gave her the right anti venom. It took 6 doses but she is doing well. As far as the snake goes I was gona release it in the woods down the road but was over ruled by family members and now it is dead. I had to hold it for a while tho. A lot of people believe a good snake is a dead snake but I believe they also have a job to do. I dont recommend any one holding one tho.

Is that you holding the snake? You are braver than I would ever be with that snake. Glad your Grandmother is OK.

MoKelly

Yes I'm the one holding it. Call me crazy but I like snakes.

And thanks to all for the concern and kind words. :)

Glad your grandma is gonna be okay. Was the snake down in the water meter pit? The only snakebites I know of have been copperheads.

Thats one reason why I love Maine-I dont think we have any posious snakes :)

Ditto. There may be a few eastern timber rattle snakes, some in NY and VT for sure. DNR won't say where they are - for obvious reasons.

No scorpions, fire ants, killer bees, brown recluse spiders, or 17' long pythons either. Y'all can have all that stuff. We keep our poisonous critters in Augusta, under a heavy dome

Hope your Grandma is resting peacefully tonight.

Glad she is OK, Copperheads are among only a few snakes I will terminate.

Glad she's gonna be OK....yes, they have a job to do, that said, if it's poisonous, I take it out. Have to say I've never seen a copperhead in the wild, just coral and rattlesnakes and water moccasins.

Well grandmother should get to go home today. Where she lives she has to read her own water meter and then turn it in. She reached into the meter box to move some leaves and thats when he got her. Thanks again for all the kind comments. I myself have been bit a few times but didnt hold that against the snake. I was in his territory and he only did what he was suppose to do lol. I do keep them away from my house tho because of the wife and my kids. Not to say that I dont kill snakes but would rather relocate them is possible.
