So, yep today I had to find my middle buster plow to trench a water line. With much trepidation, I have been watching the giant ragweed here growing to biblical proportions. The stuff even grows right through Kudzu:eek:....I didn't think there was anything on planet earth that Kudzu could not throttle and choke out...nope the giant ragweed here is poking right through and blooming.

So where was the plow?....yep under a forrest of 12' tall ragweed. Holding your breath does NOT work{sniff}. I shoulda had a haz-mat wash down station after getting coated in it's golden pollen{sniff}. So that is why I'm up at 0400{sniff} while consuming a cocktail of different medications{sniff}

I hate ragweed:thumbdown:

Murph it does a decent job, but I could only get down about 9-10"...ok for a power line, not so good fro water. If I had time I would make up and extension to get down around 2', but I was in a hurry. So I took the bucket and "scraped" the entire run(75') down a foot or so, then hit it with the middle buster. I still had to use a shovel to clean out the trough, but the water line is "in".

Triple, yep that's them thar annoying obnoxious pollen slinging skank weed!

It surely is, even in a cab, I wear a dust mask, still doesn't eliminate it completely.

James must be our soil and weeds seem to thrive where other plants don't, we haven't put fertilizer on that farm in years. We bought a 200 gallon 3PH sprayer recently and are spraying some noxious weeds, but it's a little late in the year, we will be prepared for next year though. All my family has allergies.

This stuff is the main reason I bought a tractor. :thumbsup: My little patch of bottomland is apparently an ideal environment for it. I grow 20-25' crops of the stuff. I tried at first to manage it using my little MTD riding mower. I would mow every week when it got over 12", but sometimes wet weather would intervene and it would get over 2-3 feet before it got dry enough to mow. It literally tore apart the undercarriage and deck of that mower.

I started hiring a guy to mow it 3-4 times a year, but by the time he got an opening it was 8-10' or higher. One time it was close to 20' when he came over and he left to get a bigger tractor. I still could not see him most of the day, just the tops of the weeds shaking. His visits started getting longer and longer between and he kept complaining about how hard it was to cut and I should have called earlier. It was the end when I replied on his last visit that I had called him over a month ago that it was at 2' and it was his call to keep pushing me down his schedule. The following weekend I dropped the hammer on my own tractor and shredder. It hasnt gotten over 2' tall since. :cool2:

For hay fever give a Neti pot or Neilmed sinus rinse a try. Sounds crackpot, sounds gross, but man, it makes a big difference. I didn't try it until my allergist suggested it and gave me a sample of the Neilmed and I became a believer. Neilmed can be had at Costco for about half the price you find it elsewhere.

I don't shop at Costco, but I get the Meilmed at Walmart. First time I heard of it was when my doctor told me to get it.
