What does a runaway trailer really do?

Then why are people allowed to build a Homemade trailer that can destroy people behind them?

May I also add: "Or not maintained properly". Back about 1992 I purchased one of those U-build 4X8 trailer kits one buys from a big box store and assembles, I upgraded the tire size, installed a larger safety chain size than OEM, assembled it with better hardware than was supplied, yet when I wanted to register it for a plate, all I needed to do was take my bill of sale to the state office that issued registrations and I had my plate. They never checked to see if it was assembled right, if safety chains were installed, I could have used tires from a wheelbarrow for all they knew. I really feel trailers of all types should be subject to an inspection before they can be registered. Oh, and by the way...while I assembled my trailer at home, the registration said "Nu-Way" and not "Homebuilt".

Agree. Should there be better inspections? Yes. Should people pay more attention when trailering? Yes. Should some trailers be better maintained? Yes.

Can you build a home homemade and not have a building code? The point is if you want to build your own home with no code it does not affect me and others. If you build a homemade trailer with no standards you affect the people who are behind you

There are many situations where a driver does not have the required time and/or room to maneuver out of the way of a trailer that has broken loose from the tow vehicle coming towards you.

True, however he started that site because he "didnt see" the 4x6ish landscape trailer that was being towed by the (stopped) car in front of him and ran into the trailer. That story isn't as prominent on the site as it used to be on the old one, but that is what got him to start the site.

You need to know this...because you use this on your tractor set ups..
