I was performing the first 100 hr oil and filter change on my CT335 after the initial 50 hr service (dealer did this service) and had the following occur. I noticed that the filter was on very tight and it took quite a bit of force to get it to move at first. However it wasn't the filter moving put the threaded mounting fitting that was turning (see attached picture). I ended up having to take the filter and mounting shaft off and then put it in a vise to be able to separate the filter from the mount. I was able to put everything back together and it seems to be OK, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem when trying to take an old filter off.

A similar thing happened when I did the 50 hr on my DK35 (which I think is similar to the CT335). The entire filter mounting plate on the engine rotated a bit before the filter broke loose. I just turned it back to its original position and have not had a problem in the three filter changes since then. There's no need to over tighten the filters as some are inclined to do.

Somebody probably tightened the living crap out of it. You only need to got 3/4 to 1 turn after the filter contacts the base.

My original filter was very tight and difficult to remove, but I did not have your problem. Perhaps the dealer didn't remove the original filter at 50hrs???

I had the same issue with my CT 450. Additionally, I found that one of the drain plugs in the oil pan had been overtightened and the threads had been stripped in oil pan. The plug would get "slightly snug" but not tight enough for me to be comfortable that it wouldn't vibrate loose. I finally got the dealer (250 miles from where I live), to send me a new oil pan and gasket. Now I have to figure out how to remove the drive shaft so I can drop the oil pan.

Anyone know how to remove the driveshaft?
