We just finished building a log home (we didn't, builder did), and with a porch and small windows and lots of kitchen cabinets, ended up with a very dark kitchen.
Would using flourescent shop lights above the cabinets (pointing upwards) work?
Too much heat?
I put up 3 strings of rope lighting, but it is still a bit dim.
Other ideas?

It will work just fine provided there's adequate space between the cab tops and the ceiling for the light to 'escape' and fill the room

The other trick is to use under cabinet task lighting. There are LED systems that install quickly. Stay away from under cab halogen (gets way too hot) or florescent (bulbs are very $pendy)
