My old F-150 is white I put a USA Flag bug shield on it and it really made it stand out... Very sweet ride.

Thanks David ... last new Ford I had was in 1999 experienced some difficulties and that then became the year I got my first Dodge ... I can not say enough good about Dodge. Am hoping my Ford experience is a good one.

Its not good for it at all... Just generates heat and acellerates wear. Not to metion killing fuel mileage in the process. Truck is probably in need of more gear to help it overcome the loads being applied to it. Or you can lock it out of 6th when pulling.

I thought that "tow/haul" was supposed to do that. I quess the manual shift will be the way to pull with it.

Blueriver - The frequent shifting in tow/haul mode might be related to your low tow weight. For that <6K lbs you might be better off just using the standard transmission settings...just a thought......nice truck....My truck envy is almost as bad as my tractor envy... er... needs...Cheers, Gary

My Nissan Titan does not recommend using Tow Haul mode until the trailer weight exceeds the GVWR of the truck. So about 6,500# or less no Tow Haul, but from 6,500# to its max 9,500# use it.

I'd say its hunting gears because of the trailer catching a lot of wind. To get the load moving, its the weight of the trailer that makes a difference, but once its moving, its more about how much wind it catches. At 75 mph, wind resistance is a huge factor. If I remember some of my college classes, wind resistance is based on the square of the speed, so the wind resistance between 20 mph and 60 mph is not 3 times, but 9 times more.

Nice rig Sir,this is one old Aussie true blue Ford man that is green as well, would like a new F series but She Who MUST be obeyed keeps saying a definate NO, same with a new tractor. As for retiring being busier than when I was working, YES Sir you are busier than ever:laughing: I was told by a friend that retired people never have any spare time as they are always too busy, and yessir she was right.

Congratulations. You will absolutely love it! I have a 2011 2wd with the 6.2.
Low maintenance costs are awesome. I use the mobil 1 ep 5w20 change oil every ten thousand miles myself and am currently at 40,000 miles with no issues at all. average 18mpg highway and 14 city.
Unfortunately only average 8 when pulling this 12000lb beast down the interstate.

Friday I took the stock trailer(GN) with two 1200 lb horses and one 1000 lb mule .... fuel economy gauge stated an average of 9.4 MPG...now I need someone to talk to me about the following. I mashed the tow/haul button and it sure is not like the Dodge ... seemed like it had no effect ... alot of automatic shifting from 4th to 6th just didn't feel right. I tryed the manual feature and sure didn't care for that. I thought the tow/haul kept it shifted down ????



Welcome back to a gas engine. I sold my 07 Dodge 2500 CTD and went to a Tundra. It had plenty of power but it drove me crazy shifing on the interstate between 5th and 6th. I had another kid so I looked for a truck with a bigger cab than the Tundra dbl cab. I test drove the GM 6.0 and the Ford 6.2 gas and the shifting aggravated me to no end going up the mountains on I-81. I don't think there is anything wrong with your truck it's just you went fron 600lb of torque back to the 400lb range. I now have a 2011 Ford F 250 6.7 XLT and really love it so far. I just got back from a hunting trip in Ontario and I averaged 21.2 mpg going up and 19.8 coming back on a 2,200 mile round trip. One of the riders in my truck had no experience with a diesel and he commented about how my truck never downshifted on the interstate. In my opinion the 6.2 Ford gas engine felt like it had more power than the GM 6.0. I belive you are still comparing a diesel to a gas and it just isn't the same when it comes to having a truck not having to downshift to keep the engine in the proper power range.
