Which cost more? Fixing the trans at 1500 hours or you servicing the tractor per Owners Manual for those 1500 hours at the proper service intervals, now don't cheat?

That is funny .
..but I'd have to say that replacing the trans was about 3x the cost of 5 complete services.

Oops my mistake. I was just thinking wrong, forgot it only make things cool down faster but not colder. Never the less as -40 things are still stiff as ****!

Sorry - I may have confused you. I was referencing using the synthetic in our Cars. We can get as low as -40 f in mid February for a short time during the overnight hours.

I hate leaving block heaters plugged in all the time. The tractor however can be plugged in for a short time with an appreciable increase in temperature. For the cars, I was hoping that by using synthetic would alleviate the slow groan of moving pudding and lessen the time I may have to plug it in.

Is there a synthetic diesel oil available?

I'm running Rotella T6 synthetic in my Kubota (I think it's 5w40). Wally world sells it so it's easy to get. In my cars and trucks I've never used synthetic. 5w30 year round. Now that I park the daily drivers in the garage it's not even an issue but I've never had a car not start.

-5 w 40 is pretty much what I was finding available- Rotella being the most common. I use rotella conventional now anyway, guess I'll take the plunge and go synthetic
