Maine Members: Source of Diesel?

/ Maine Members: Source of Diesel? #21
At the station where I get my heating oil and my off road diesel, they told me that the onroad diesel, Off road and heating oil are all the same diesel, except that the off road and HHO are the same and the only difference is the red dye and the lack of road taxes. When I ordered HHO last fall, I paid in advance at the office and they asked me how I wanted it charged as, HHO or off road. I asked what was the difference and they said none, Just how I wanted it billed. They also told me they can't get the higher sulfur content as they don't make it any more...

Not Maine, parts of NH, and parts of VT. I do not know of what other areas possibly still carry Heating Oil.

I'm not an expert in fuels. But I work with them.

You might be surprised to know that even gasoline is different in different places.

Between Boston, Ma and Portland, Me... stations carry 3 different types of 87,89,91,93 octane gasoline.

Boston has what is called: Reformulated. That is used there and parts of NH. It is illegal to sell that in maine.

In the summer, there are 2 different types of gasoline sold in maine, based on county boundries and laws. They are referred to as 7.8 and 9.0 gasoline. It is illegal to sell 9.0 gas in a 7.8 boundary.

What gas you buy, even if you only buy regular 87 octane gas, depends very much upon where you live or buy it.

How true
What they do is formulate the gas for the different conditions in different areas of the country. Example is the reformulated gas. terrible stuff. also it is
formulated for weather/season that you have. summer gas is slightly different than winter gas. Just what the difference is I don't know, possiblely more
alcohol or additive to prevent moisture in fuel to keep from freezing. Whatever, it is not all the same.

1*They were right.
2*This still does not change it from being ULSD.
3*Right again.
4*You can't sell what is not made .

If u had taken the time to read what I've already written/copy/pasted FOR U (in post #20), u would know the answer.

U can put syrup, rice crispies, or sand in your tractor. That's fine with me.

But to tell all others that #2 heating oil no longer exists, and that THEY should put it in THEIR ULSD ONLY tractors is irresponsible.

I'm not telling you what to do.

I think what u r saying to others, is untrue.

I work with the product you say doesn't exist. So do others. Many of us own ULSD ONLY tractors. We run clear or dyed ULSD. We will not use #2 heating oil.

I am not concerned with convincing you of anything.

Hopefully anyone living in an area where Heating Oil is sold, will be cautioned to at least research the subject.

U and Kioti Tom live in the same place. Maybe there is no heating oil there. In other areas, it is still used.
