Easy, no spill oil change aids

I'm a cheapskate, but I bought one. It actually IS the best thing since sliced bread.
Well that makes me feel a little better... I guess sliced bread quality does not always come cheap! I am still thinking about it.

TWENTY FIVE BUCKS?????!!!!! My home made gutter funnels were FREE, or you can buy a 10' length of new PVC gutter and an end cap for maybe $6 total. Does this overpriced gadget extend to 4 feet long like my cheapo drain funnel does? I might pay $5 for those funnels, but not more than that.

According to the FormAFunnel website it seems it is just a piece of aluminum sheet with a coating. I bet you could rig one with a piece of thin sheet metal coated in Plasdip from a spray can. I may have to try this.

That would work well as long as the oil didn't seep thru the cardboard. I should have mentioned in the original post that it's a good idea to get the gutter section up as far as possible toward the drain plug so the initial gush of oil doesn't splash over the sides.

It's best to use thick cardboard, or a thin piece that's coated with the glossy finish like a soda box or something. I've use the trick on my L-8000 before where a few gallon comes out and it's drained before it ever seeps through.

A couple of them are sheet lead with Nitrile coating. Not much will affect lead so why not just buy a piece of thin lead to do the same thing.

Can I use slices of bread? :)

Maybe not quite as re-usable or adaptable to differernt situations, but I just use a piece of galvanized duct. A 6" x 12" piece does nicely. Works very good for those Kubota 4wd axle drains that are actually inside the edge of the tire.
