Seen a subsoiler on craigslist a 4 weeks ago priced @ $175 I offered $150 guy said naw it's worth more than that
2 weeks ago ad placed again @ $150 I called an offered $100 he said nope
This morning ad placed @ $125 I offered $100 he said $112.50

Here's my question I drove 3 1/2 hours one way to pick it up. Used $80 bucks in gas. Took the wife and kids with me. Breakfast/Dinner $28.89+$3 tip Supper on the way home $48.97+$5 tip
Did I get a good deal.

I would say that it sounds like everyone got screwed.

The seller didn't get what he wanted for the subsoiler.
The wife and kids didn't get to go somewhere interesting to them and lost all day.
You likely paid more than the subsoiler was worth when you add up all the costs.
The waiters/waitresses got screwed with SMALL tips, half of what putting up with kids is worth.

TSC has them new for $180. Hopefully you at least had a good day going to get it. The price would have been good if it was close to you.

Wife got to eat at here favorite place
Kid had a good time seeing something beside the backyard. Stopped an did a petting zoo along the way.
Tips reflect service. I have been a waiter before better service better tips.

You can cut the gas bill and food bill in half then since it everyone got to do something they liked.

All things considered, sounds like you got good value for your time and money.
That's a nice looking subsoiler.

I've got the Fred Cain myself...I like this unit and think it is much more HD than any others that I saw out there. Fred Cains are on the high side for cost but then again the TSC ones seem to be about half the unit this thing is. I'd say $100-120 is a fair price for something like this. Be careful using it though. These things love to find underground obstacles. So, make sure your stabilizer bars are tight on this thing so it can't rock around. I had to fix the 1/4 upper that is a part of it when it found one of those obstacles. It was just sloppy enough that as it grazed a rock and tug on a root that the inch or so it moved to the side turned the top link into a hockey stick. Got it all straightened out and is good as new, but those surprises can wreck things quick.
