Hello: I'm a new member. I recently purchased a 1983-1986 John Deere 2350 tractor. When the seller demonstrated it, the 3 Pt hITCH WORKED FINE. NOW i CANNOT GET IT TO OPERATE UP OR DOWN. tHE pto DOES WORK (TURNS THE SHAFT) BUT i CAN'T LINE UP THE BUSH HOG TO CONNECT IT . 3 pT hITCH ARMS WON'T MOVE. i FILLED THE HYDRAULIC FLUID TO THE PROPER LEVEL (PER THE DIP STICK). Any suggestions for this green horne????? Thanks in advance for any assistance you can give me.

How low was the fluid when you started adding more?

Most tractors have a lock of some description on the 3pt hitch. You probably flipped a lever or turned a dial that locked it out.

Thanks for your response. I checked the dip stick and there was none showing so I added a quart at a time until it showed between the lines. It took 4 quarts.

Thanks for your reply! I checked all the levers and looked for dials, etc. I'll go back and check everything again tomorrow (daylight) and see what I may have missed. There is a lever to pull up to engage the PTO and a small dial under the seat that just kind of spins freely. It is so warn I can't read the symbol on it to determine what it is used for. My owner's manual doesn't tell me much. I know it's probably an easy fix, I just can't figure it out yet.

I'm pretty sure the dial adjusts the speed of drop in the 3pt hitch. I'm also pretty sure that it shouldn't spin freely.

If you do not have an OPERATOR'S MANUAL for your model tractor, you should get one.
Ebay is one good source. They have a category specifically for tractor and implement operator's manuals.

Thanks to all that replied. I will order an Operator's Manuel and perhaps that will answer most of my questions. I do have a shop manual, but it's not what I need.

As previously mentioned, that round knob under your seat controls the hydraulics on the 3ph and can lock it. It should not turn easily and I suggest that is where your problem lies.

Is your 3pt arms locked in the up position?

The knob that adjust the rate of descent only affects the arms down, However, it can lock the arms in any position for transport.

You might remove and clean that assembly.
