How do you identify if a Massey Ferguson tractor has the multipower transmission or not. If there is a difference in how it looks would some one please post a picture. Thank you!

There is a small leaver (like the throttle on a lawn mower) on the dash to the left of the steering wheel. Don't have a pic. sold tractor years ago.

Probably the best way to tell if the tractor has the multipower is to bend down on one knee and peer under the tractor. Just below the transmission on the ground there should be a puddle of gear oil. That would be the multipower indicator. I fixxed mine so if you need any information just let me know.

Probably not terribly helpful but I appreciate the humour.

To the OP, also maybe not helpful but a search in the vintage MF forum will provide you with info on multipower.

My 1964 MF135 diesel has multipower. The high/low range lever is on the lower right part of the dashboard. If the tractor does not have multipower, there will be an empty slot where the MP lever would be located. Also MP is available only on the Deluxe model which has 5 dashboard instruments (tach, water temp, ammeter, oil pressure, fuel gauge). The stripped down Special model only has oil pressure and water temp.

The MP on my 135 only works in low range. The MP is operated by a hydraulic clutch which gets stuck in low range if the hydraulics are on the fritz. MP gives you extra gears (the standard 6F/2R tranny goes to 12F/4R with multipower). You can shift the MP on the go (no need to use the clutch).
