Living without a big toe. Anybody out here lose one?

Will keep her in our prayers! Years ago my Dad had a big toe amputated due to diabetes, and I remember doctors telling him was less traumatic than losing little toe,as far a balance, walking concerned.

I will pray for your granddaughter that she will fully recover from this accident. They are fast in getting into trouble. Its hard to think of every way they can hurt themselves.

Thanks for that Dex, and EVERYONE who has kept her in your thoughts. I can't stop thinking about 'if only I had been there'. But I wasn't even home at the time and they've played in that garage now for a long time and I never, ever thought about them doing anything like that. I've now put spring clips on each of the rack arms to keep them from pulling on the weights, but I don't really think she'll go anywhere near that thing again.

I HOPE!!

As I type this, she is being prepped for surgery. I'll be going down a little later today to be with her after she comes out of surgery. Her Mom said she is just playing right now. She asked if she was going to have to get another "Straw" in her arm. She doesn't like those.

Thanks again to all,

Mike

Our kids have had to have surgery a few times. Not fun at all. They also did not like the IVs and I can't blame them. Calling it a straw is pretty clever.

When our kids came out of surgery, they could be out of it with the drugs. In the recovery room there were other kids, some like ours who were vocal and moving around quite a bit, while others were pretty calm. Not fun but in the end the kids don't remember anything so just take it in stride as best you can. Our kids do not remember their recovery time at all and even the time around the surgery is but a dim memory.

Thoughts and prayers,
Dan

Sorry guys, yes I should have updated it. Autumn is doing great. She's back to laughing and playing and you can't stop her. Her foot is still wrapped up for another week but she "walks" as best as she can on it. She's going through socks like crazy but they're cheap. She has to have assistance with hobbling around or hold on to something and when she can't do that she crawls! Thank you guys for all your thoughts. I'll try to get a picture or two of her tonight dressed up in her Halloween costume.
