That young lady is in my prayers. May God bless her and your family.

She'll be ok with or without. Might even be something to amaze her friends as she goes thru life. A badge, if you will, that she has survived one of life's minor tragic incidents.

As a kid, I cut off two of my neighbor's toes with the lawnmower as he ran in front of it. All the fire engines were there, it was a big neighborhood deal. I'll never forget the neighbor lady who wanted me to show her the cutoff toes in the grass. Sheesh.

That's the stuff movies are made of.

It is amazing how tragic something appears at the time it happens and how resilient people get past it quickly and look back at it as a tiny blip in thier life.

She should do fine. My Dad lost his big toe and the one next to it in a construction accident. He was 55 years old. It slowed him down some; and he wore special-made orthopedic shoes for a couple years...he later went to regular shoes and other than the odd appearance of his shoe, one would never know. The other toes on that foot were somewhat distorted, and I think that bothered him more than the loss of the toes.

My sympathies to your daughter; having raised two daughters myself, I can only imagine your pain...fathers tend to be that way about their little girls. I wish you and your daughter the best, and may God bless.

Dennis

Sorry to hear of this happening to her...I'm sure she will over come it. I've not lost one, but I remember my grandfather, in his 80s ran over his foot with the lawnmower and lost a big toe. He overcame it and was active and lived into his early 90s. He was a tough old bird!

UPDATE ---
My Granddaughter went home yesterday afternoon and the doctors are wanting her to come back in twice a week for the next 2 weeks and they'll watch it and see what's happening with it. She's glad to be home but she went home to a house full of sick sisters. One (3 yrs. old) has a sinus infection and the other one (1 yr. old) has a double ear infection. My poor daughter and son in law just can't catch a break for anything.

Weird story, when I was 17 I was working for a cousin that owned a garbage company as a tipper on a truck. I had one of the trucks roll across both my feet. I had a few cracked bones in one of them and was in a cast for 3-4 weeks but nothing really serious. (Next time it rains I'll let you know which one...)

Oh, and any and all prayers would be greatly appreciated for this little girl.
She's a beautiful, impulsive little girl who just didn't understand what could happen by doing what she did.

Mike
She is in my wifes and my prayers .

I wish all the best for your granddaughter. One of the lineman that worked in our region, lost his thumb in an electrical accident. They took his big toe to replace his thumb and last I new he is still playing golf, ten years later.

LATEST UPDATE --

Yesterday afternoon, Autumn's toe began bleeding and looked much darker. She was also experiencing pain in it. Her Mom & Dad took her back down to LeBonheur where they x-rayed it and examined it. Around midnight the doctors came back in and said that the toe appears to be dying and decaying. That is what was causing the bleeding and pain. They will decide either today or Monday about their next course of action but it's looking like they will end up taking the toe.

Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers!!

So sorry to hear that; we will be thinking about her, the outcome of injuries like this are apparently very hard to predict.
