Snow Pole Road Markers ????

We were in Vermont about 6,7 weeks ago looking at homes (3 in Corinth, one in Plainfield NH) One Corinth house was great and the price was right, but our decision was...find a job then move...or move and find a job. We also decided to wait until Spring 2013. But this company called, phone inteview went good and they invited me up for an onsite. Nice thing is, they're paying for the trip.

As far as real estate, my search criteria was between 150K and 250K and 5 acres minimum. I got over 500 hits so I do know there are properties available. Barring any major health issues, I've got another 10 years work life in me before I retire completely...maybe not even then. I do want to ensure we can have a decent life after I retire, so I'm not looking for a mansion. A pole building would be nice though!

WRJ is a very pretty part of the state. I have a brother in law that lives down in Randolph. I hope you like the country because you will be in the sticks, lol. But you'll also be a couple of hours from Nashua. Because NH has no sales tax all the people from Mass cross over to shop making Nashua a shopping mecca.

I am getting my roads ready for winter. I have always used sappling sticks for plowing markers. It is kind of a pain cutting and sharpening them. I use about 100. I saw these and wonder if anyone has used them and how they stand up to plowing abuse. They might be worth it if they last.

I liked the price on those much better than the 4' poles I got at Lowe's. Decided to order 10 of 'em. Then it came time to check out. Decided I didn't want to pay $19+ to ship $15 worth of poles.
Oh well, it was a nice idea while it lasted! :laughing:

I pound in short lengths of rebar 12" then slide a piece of 3/4" PVC roughly 48"over the rebar. If someone breaks a piece of PVC they don't bend the rebar and it's simple to put a new piece of PVC on. PVC is cheap and we normally spray the top 6" with a bright colored paint to make it stand out against the snow. I use 50' between markers.

I like that idea also. No shipping, just a half mile trip to the local hardware store!

We are about 70 miles north of White River. If you work in that area you have a equal choice between VT and NH. Two very different states tax wise and polically. You might want to rent a while to get the lay of the land.

While I'm on the other side of the river from you, we've got to be pretty close to each other. Agree N.H. and Vt. are very different states! Vt. is rather socialist, N.H. (especially the north country) more libertarian. Whichever fits you better...

One of my sisters lives in Corinth, pretty country but quite a drive to anywhere...probably 1 1/2 hr drive to WRJ/Lebanon, 30+ min to Barre/Montpelier. Rt. 302 can be "interesting" in bad weather. A section of it going towards Wells River washed out in Hurricane Irene (it's been repaired), westbound towards Barre it's known to flood. You're also in a bit of a snow belt, you'll get 2-3X the snow there than even a few miles away. Lots of old, semi-overgrown farms in the area that can be had for a decent price.
