ROPS Raising?

I have a 8560 that I have to put the ROPS down to park it under cover. The problem is putting it back up is a PITA. So any ideals or tips to make it simpler?????

You know, the ROPS safety feature has been added for many years to protect a 'belted in' driver. It helps with rollover, and probably more importantly, keeping the tractor from back flipping on top of the operator. I have run tractors since I was a teenager [ I'm old and decrepit now ], and my new Mahindra is the first tractor that had a ROPS. And, while not real proud of the fact, I have never used the seat belt on it. What I am trying to say is, you can leave it down.... or even possibly modify the top section to lower the height some so you can leave it up. It's your tractor, and your call. Most tractor accidents are caused by people trying to pull something without using the drawbar, excessive speed when pulling, operating on too steep an incline, etc.... There is no law saying you can't cut the thing up for scrap..... My 5035 fits into my 10' roll up doors.....

Loosen the lock nuts on the hinge bolts, and file the holes for the lock pins till the pin goes in and out easily.

The real probem is trying to lift it back into place. I had to stand on the back of the lift to get leverage to lift it up. I am not a 90 pound weakling but it is hard to get good levarge on it. My farm is pretty hilly so I am very cautes in what I am doing. Pluss I like the ROPS up just for the added safty.

Mount a couple to gas assist shocks to a clamp on the top/bottom of the ROPS?

I'd walk it up using a tall ladder to get better leverage.

Does it swing freely? It sounds like the hinge bolts are tight, and if you loosen the bolt it is hinging on, it will get a lot easier.

Maybe rig some stop up so it only allows the ROPS to swing backwards just enough to clear your structure. Then you would only have to push up a short distance to get it back in position. [ Fab up a block that attaches to your ROPS hinge bolts ]. Or put a taller door in your structure.....???

I am surprised someone hasn't already tried hooking a lift cylinder to a rear remote....or at least I thought I'd seen it all.

thought crossed my mind...lol. The ROPS when lowered is still to high for me to touch when I am standing on the ground. I was thinking of a push stick maybe??? Next time you are around a 8560 you will see what I mean..
