The Scorpion code name would of been much cooler production name than Powerstroke.
I wonder if they'll chop off the back two eventually and have a V6? From the power that V8 is putting down I believe most people could/would be better off with a smaller version.

I know Dodge is testing a cummins 1500, and really hope Ford is testing an inhouse diesel 150, because that is the kick in the butt GM needs to release the 4.5L.

Why? V8 diesels have proven themselves. Seems people will never except that fact.

Show me what serious heavy trucks have V-8's installed in them. Light duty? yeah sure no problem. Key word is LIGHT. Ford diesels are LIGHT duty. Cummins are medium or better. I'd take a Cummins over a powerstroke any day. The 6L/6.4L should be all the evidence you'd ever need.

BTW: would like to have that 550. I could truly use a 550 with super singles.

You are starting to sound like a Dodge owner, all they know is Cummins. Too bad they are missing the boat.

With all the engine builders out there, Cummins is the last one I would ever own. The Duramax has proven itself time and time again, and can (and will) easily last as long as a Cummins. Mack/Volvo, DD(MBE), Hino, Cat, and SISU (tractors here, logging in their native Finland.)

Does E9 ring a bell? My point, if you need a hezvy duty truck, do not buy a light duty truck with a hezvy duty engine, buy the right truck the first time.

I know those super singles are crazy expensive. How much are 6 singles compared to the 4 super singles?

All manufactures are testing diesels. Nissan had a baby Cummins but when the bailouts took place Dodge and them parted ways. Ford was testing, so was GM. Toyota had a in house. Bottom line is with the direct injected gassers making big power and torque to match the diesels we will not see them for years if ever. Thank the EPA for that.

As for trannys the Torque Shift has lead the class since the 6 speed, really a 7 speed came out. At least all the shootouts I have read. The Dmax won on engines and the Ford again on chassis untill this latest GM. Dodge is at the back of the pack in all categories.

Mack made a V8, Cat had the 3408, perkins V8 in a MF, and detroit had V8's. A Ford desiel will out last the truck. I know a guy who has a roll back with a powerstroke with 478,000 on it.

Thanks Chris. Are tjose DI gassers as good and improved as they say? If So, then the new DI 5.3L is all I will need, so long as you can get a max trailer package type pavkage on it. (All wheel discs, full towing ewuipped.).

Drive a Ford Eco Boost with 3.55 or better yet 3.73 gears and you will be sold.
