Build-It-Yourself Attachment KITS...How much interest would there be???

/ Build-It-Yourself Attachment KITS...How much interest would there be??? #81
As long as no welding at my end is required I would have no trouble assembling. Much of what we buy these days is packed in a box unassembled to make it more storable and to save on shipping costs. I just bought a TV stand and spent 3 hours putting it together. The instructions were clear. There were extra fastening items (bolts etc.) to compensate for faulty ones, all parts fit neatly together and the finished product was very solid. Now on the other hand I have had nightmares assembling some chinese products where I have to re drill poorly placed holes and jerry rig the thing.

EA hasn't posted on this thread in quite awhile.

Hopefully they will make a decision soon. These would be good winter projects to weld up and paint and have ready to go come next Spring.

I wonder if Santa can fit a Land Plane kit in his sleigh? :)

This is Travis. I do most of the posting for ETA here on TBN and get the answers to many of your questions directly from Ted because typing and emailing aren't really his thing.

Your opinions really do matter to Ted. An example is.....When he first starting his manufacturing venture, he had a paint color in mind but before he started painting everything that color, he got opinions from you guys and determined that the majority preferred a color that can be purchased locally for touch-up and that goes with all tractors. That color was industrial yellow(CAT yellow) which is totally different from the red color he planned to use. Your opinions directly affect what we do here at ETA. . . From start to finish, we work for you and want that to be well known!!! You are making it possible for Ted to do what he is very passionate about.

Ted wanted me to start this thread to get opinions and see how much interest there is in the idea. You guys have provided us with many great ideas and it seems that there is a great deal of interest and support out there in TBN land!!!
This is not something that we are going to rush into overnight. It will take a great deal of planning to make this work and your input is very valuable and appreciated.

The next step I want to take is to test this idea in the real world with an attachment kit of our choosing($400-$1000 value) in which we will send, free of charge, to one capable person who will agree to provide us(and you) with an in-depth step-by-step review(complete with pictures) of the complete process from beginning to the painted, final product. We will choose a fairly simple attachment but it will require welding and the other capabilities already discussed in this thread.
This will require more help from you guys to let us know who is the right person for the job. Get together and recommend that person by polling/discussion. We will then gather your feedback and proceed.
Again, thanks for your outstanding assistance!! This will also be posted on the build-it-yourself forum.

You're welcome, I'm glad I could put a smile on your face, but I was only half joking. You definitely get my vote as the person who should give it a go.

Oh ya. You gave me a good chuckle alright  I owe you one my friend. Well fabrication, welding, machining, painting and even photography is not a problem for me. I've posted plenty of my work on here. Thanks again for your kind remarks

Thanks for the update and good to hear that this is still moving forward.
I do think it would be easier if now that you have the interest established that you keep everything in one thread.
I find myself bouncing back and forth to find out the latest.

How about giving us a list list of possibilities for the first kit. You can start a thread with a description of each potential kit and maybe a photo or two of your current assembled attachment. People can vote for their favorite and set a cut off date when you initiate the thread so it automatically closes after x number of days.

I notice the version of vBulletin used here does not allow users to create polls or voting threads, that's too bad. I believe the capability is built into the software, just need to enable it.

I like the idea of these kits.
I could use a 6' QA loader bucket.
Pre cut, weld together bucket kits would be nice.

Indeed, thanks for the feedback and getting back with us.

I dont know where my skills (or "known" skills among TBN brothers) stack up, but I consider my self just an average country boy. And after the first of the year, I will have all the time in the world to mess around with a kit-attachment. That is unless I can find a good paying job between now and then:mur:

Whoever is picked though, I'd say someone who is a frequent here. Someone we know will give good feedback and be deserving. And not someone who will leave us high and dry. I would be VERY hard to pick someone, cause there are alot of members here who I think would do a find job as a Guinea pig:D

I have an average size garage with average tools to which I have built my own equipment. This person nominates me, myself and I.:D

How much time one will get to complete implement assembly?

Who was it that did all that fancy spreadsheet stuff for the 3,000,000 th post? Was it Aczlan??

What say we ask someone with those skills if they would be in charge, open a thread for nominations, let the candidates write a paragraph or 2 and let tbn vote by pm to whoever is doing the spreadsheet.

Maybe come up with our 2 or 3 top choices and then EA can pick the final person as who best fits their need.
