As I said in the other thread, I like the idea, but I would recommend that we have the nominations in one thread, then link to a poll (I setup a proof of concept here: Doodle: Test Voting for TBN ) and at the end of the voting period, the results are released.
That would be less work to manage than counting PMs.
Alternatively, Muhammad could create a poll in the thread to do the same thing.

See that's why we pay you the big bucks Aaron, I knew you would know a good way to do it! Would you be willing to take it on? It would probably mean you couldnt be nominated to be the guniea pig but I will buy you a EA hat(if they make them) or send you a tungularafishcamp hat for your trouble.

I would like to see someone who has the tools to do the job but also is someone who is middle of the road when it comes to skill. The whole point of a build it yourself is for the average guy who wants a little challenge and to save a few bucks. I would love to be the guy but winter is setting in and without a heated shop to work in painting would be a problem and I wouldn't want to let bare steel sit until spring. Never the less no matter who gets the chance I'm looking forward to reading all about the build.

I dont have a welder, so I am not in the running anyways. I can do it...

I agree. While I put 4shorts, Shield Arc, etc on the test poll, I wouldn't think that they would be good test cases as their fabrication skills are well above "average"

That would be great, should we let this settle in for 24 hrs and get some others input and if no objections to you taking it on job we can get someone a kit and EA and Ted on their way tbn stardom:)

I like where this is going.

Here are my thoughts on the details/steps:
1. EA posts the attachment that they have in mind (or, better, a "your choice of these 3 attachments") as the start of a nomination thread (the main reason being that if someone already has a backblade, they may not be as interested on building one as they would be to make a boxblade or a landplane)
2. Make a "Nomination period" of 2-3 weeks where people can be nominated (or can nominate themselves) to be in the poll by posting in the thread from step 1
3. Close the nominations and put in a link to the poll with all of the options (perhaps actually close the thread?)
4. Have a 1-2 week period where people vote on the nominations (the Doodle poll could work, but the voters would have to use their screen name in order to validate their vote)
5. Whoever runs the poll closes it and posts the results (either to here, or via PM/email to EA)
6. EA announces the winner
7. The winner builds form the kit with copious amounts of pictures posted to TBN

Does this seem fair to all interested?

Thanks

I like it. But whoever starts a new thread on this subject, needs to post a link to it here, so we can find it easy.

PS I have a nice and toasty shop to work in via barrel stove;)

It looks like you guys have a plan and I like it. I totally agree that the attachment should be something that the winner is interested in so maybe the best thing to do is discuss the attachment with the winner rather than limiting it to a choice of 3 different attachments up front. The attachment should be something the winner doesn't already have or even something that he does have and needs an upgrade. I also like the idea of starting a new thread for nominations so we don't have to watch multiple threads. If everyone agrees, i'll leave the organization of the polling/nomination up to Aaron as long as he's game. We'll send him an ETA shirt or something for his efforts.

What are the details? How long is the nomination thread going to be open? How long are people going to have to vote? How are you going to know that someone doesn't vote more than once?
