Planning on working my hillsides and wanted more accurate numbers in regards to slope, elevation, etc.

Came across an iPhone app named Theodolite that is pretty spiffy.

Gives a nice real time readout of pitch/roll, elevation, direction, GPS cords, etc.

I used a cheap suction cup phone holder to mount it horizontal on the hood above the dash.

Hadn't seen it mentioned before and thought others might find it useful.

Sample screen cap.

Edit to fix spelling

I doubt ipod. App store description did include iPad.

And I misspelled it, its Theodolite.

Looks like newer models of iPod touch are supported.

Does an alarm go off when your hind end takes a bite out of your underwear because you feel like you're going to roll over?

This thread prompted me to look for a similar Android app. I came up with "RollMeOver - Inclinometer", cost is $1.99. If you run a Play Store search on RollMeOverTrial - Inclinometer you'll find a free trial version.

And while you are busy watching your App, wondering how steep is too steep, you drop a wheel in a depression and roll over......Drive a tractor a while and you KNOW what is too steep. A cell phone app isn't going to help you. Kind'a reminds me of texting while driving....:)

Funny but true.

No doubt. I'm not advocating it as a full time addition to the tractor, I used it to log the coords and results as I crawled over the hills for later review from the comfort of the couch.

As I mentioned in an earlier thread, I'm in the planning phase of improving my hillsides for putting in a vineyard and needed to map out the areas that need the most work - this gave me #s to go along with my gut.

Was interesting to see what my "butt sensor" equated to in degrees and how consistent the internal alarm bell turned out to be.
