I said you were a liar if you said you wouldn't take a loaf of bread if you had to. I never said you were a liar because you never said you wouldn't take it, ( if you were starving).i just believe we all would do things we think we wouldn't that all I meant . And by the way I don't take bi--- slaps lightly good thing were not face to face.

Good suggestion, hope it works,. :confused3:

How have Potato's changed??? Store bought don't seem to last (un cooked) like they use to. Old when they get to the store??? Even the flavor seems different. I have never had much luck growing taters. Birds eat the plants, even if they survive them, bugs go to work.

Good idea about the cigs. for trading stock, never thought of that. I wonder if tinned tobacco would hold up better and you could barter varying amounts easier?

Every area will have it's own unique shortages and abundances so we will have to cater our own recipes to fit our environment. I wont have to give sun protection a second thought while some of you probably would have hardly any need for heat sources. While I see for most places too many people is going to be a real challenge, here the lack of people to trade with might be the challenge.

Rick, you make a good point but you should always be fine with the Fish being plentiful for you and your skill in catching them...Here , I don't think our game will last long if the worse happens....Imagine the hunters in the woods at all times...seasons for hunting would be a thing of the past...Poaching would become common. Sure hope none of this happens...

I agree Bob, am not worried about surviving here, we are totally rich in animal protein and water, my biggest worry is how to get all my loved ones here. I think anything that would be bad enough to cause the total destruction of society (eboli/flu cross, large asteroid)is probably going to kill enough people that local resources might become enough again in a lot of places. Other catastrophes that are just regional people would just have to hang on til resources arrived from other areas. I feel that while either case will bring out the worst in some people it will bring out the best in the majority.

Rick, I hope you are right...maybe I have watched too many of these disaster movies on TV...but human nature being what it is....I guess we have to hope for the best from folks but be prepared to deal with those exceptions...

I agree, getting the family to us is a challenge and it is a regional thing...Just imagine the folks who will be trapped in all the cities...gotta feel for them...but that is where the roving gangs will come from...I suppose you don't have to worry about that...not where you are...Just keep warm...

A 20 ft seine for farm ponds and creeks and fish traps and or gill nets along with plenty of twine and hooks for trot lines and bank poles for the river should be on the list. Small animal "live traps" can be easily made or purchased as well as keeping some 3-4 ft lengths of twine for home made small animal snares and a fish/frog gig. If your ammo for the firearms run out, these will provide food with no dependence on others. Ken Sweet
