At our place we have had a few mornings where it was in the low 20's....shouldn't that be cold enough and long enough to reduce the bugs or do you think we need more....?

We do need more cold, I'm working in my shop today and when I open the door several flies and nat's flying around irritating the heck out of me, I fix them real quick when I turned on the attic fan I have mounted in the wall, it'll suck everything thats not nailed down out through that fan:D
we really need about 10 days or atleast nights of freezing temps to kill the bugs off,

Wow! we really did let time slip by since last posting on the Georgia Fall and Winter thread, I figure it being Fall and all might be a good time to get the thread started again,;) Its really be a weird weather ride all year here in the Nth east part of the state of Georgia, Got to admit though I'm enjoying these milder Fall temperatures, dropping into the upper 30's at night and back into the 70's during day, I can't help but to think once Winter is here we can expect it to be a hard cold Winter,

DeepNdirt..........Yep...time flies....looks like we forgot about our thread....I too am enjoying these milder temps...saving on the heating bill is nice too....I heard Kurt Melish on WSB say that we are in for some snow events this winter with some periods of cold but also some warm periods ...So according to him we should not have a hard cold winter....I hope he is right...

I don't mean to 'invade' your Georgia forum, but we are also having the warmest and driest fall in many years. My 2000+ sq ft house is all electric and my bill this last month from the coop electric company is less than $200. That's with two big refrigerators and a chest freezer and my wife washing/drying all the clothes my grandson can go through.

The first day of Winter and it came in like a Lion, Roaring wind gust up to 60 mph in places, Last evening The temps dropped into the upper 20's wind chill felt like the teens, News cast from all over Ga, where trees and power lines blown over due to the soft ground from the flood rains the day before, And to think we had temps into the 70's last week, It had me out on the mower cutting the leafs on Monday, I notice the Bradford's are starting to bud-up:confused2:, If this Winter is anything like the weird weather we've been experiencing all year, we're in for another roller-coaster of a ride, I sure wish the weather would go back to normal again,

What is normal...drought is all that seems normal to me...If you mean normal like back up until the early 70's ..I'm all for that but what we have had since then has been all over the place...I think...

Good question, ;) To me normal would be sunny hot 90's with moderate rain in the Summer months, (All Summer) Then a gradual change in temps for the transition into Fall with of course a little dryer conditions and slight warm winds blowing changing over to cooler winds blowing Winter on in, Will have cold enough conditions to kill out the insect population but yet tolerable enough to only need a lightweight jacket, As the Winter progresses the temps will Begin to start dropping to freezing throughout the nights and back slightly warmer (low 40's) throughout the day time, During Holidays and on into the new Year perhaps getting up one morning with some surprising snow that only last a couple of days, Late Feb. the temperatures start to rise into the 50's each few days the Sun seems to get brighter warming the days the Easter flowers start peeking through, the grass starts turning back a deep green color, the tree's are starting to bud and fresh new leafs are forming, getting ready to provide us with our shades to gather under with others to have conversations about the weather and what we are going to plant in our Gardens and how hot the upcoming Summer is going to be:D Now this is what I can remember about Normal Weather:thumbsup: But Your right Brin about being in the 70's when seeing the last " Normal weather"

Tim, You are right with the way you described normal weather...that is exactly how it used to be...I remember, I think in was 1973 it was 80 deg or close to it on Christmas day or there abouts...we used to get those kind of surprises and spells of great weather in the winter....
