I trusted the manual and bought the wrong tires.

Ok, I was to lazy to walk out and check the tire size on my Kubota l3650 the other day. I ended up checking the manual and ordering 8-16 AG tires for the front. Well, as I was removing the front tires to replace, I noticed the size difference. Current tires are 10-16.5. I'm not worried about buying another set of tires. I just want to know why the wheels and tires are bigger than the manual and internet specifications. Is my driveline already out because of these bigger tires. My fear is that they were replaced by a previous owner. Kubota dealer says they are supposed to be 8-16 tires. Should I buy new rims to match factory size or should I buy new tires and keep it the way it is? Just concerned about my driveline at this point. Thanks, Henry

That only tells us half of the puzzle.

What size do you have on the rears? And what size is called for in the manual??

It is possible that they upsized BOTH the front AND rears, in which case, drive-line may be fine and you need to get the bigger tires o the front to match the rears that are oversized.

Ok, that makes sense. The Manual calls for 8-16 front and 13.6-26 rear. I currently have 10-16.5 front and 17.5l-24 rear. You could be right about both being changed because I can't find any other examples of these sizes on a l3650. The big question is, do I have a proper front to back ratio. I have never felt any binding or trouble out of the current setup. I will more than likely buy the 10-16.5 tires for the front. If someone has a formula for calculating this ratio, please let me know. I just want to get it right. I also may have some 8-16 tires for sale soon. I can't send them back to the auction. Alright, after looking through Kubota's Illustrated Parts List, I have learned that the L3650DT-GST came with 4 different tire setups. The dealer told me they only had one size tire setup, but he didn't really look at the parts list. Time for a new dealer. Anyway, the following are the different tire setups that you will find on the L3650DT-GST. The first is what is listed in the owners manual the second is what I have on the tractor. If you ever run into this problem, just look on the Kubota website and find out. Thanks

I think the difference here is the 10-16.5 and 17.5-24 combo you have is the R-4 (industrial) tread pattern.

And the 8-16 and 13.6-26 combo is for the R-1 (ag) tread pattern.

Your rears currently are the industrial pattern right?? (like found on backhoes?)

The 8-16's you bought.....were they Ag's??

Cause the 10-16.5 and 17.5-24 is typically R4 industrial sizing.

The new (8-16) tires are the AG R1 Lug pattern. The old ones are 10-16.5 R4 industrial. I think I understand. The rim is the same, but the tires are sized differently between styles.

The magic number you are looking for to see if the new tires are OK for your 4WD system is the rolling circumference. Find the rolling circumference of the old tire. The new tire should be the same +/- 0.5 inch for it to match your gear ratios and give the proper front end lead.
I don't know about mixing Ags and Industrials someone else will need to help you there.
